Hi everyone,
I was using my projector for about 2 hours tonight, and ive noticed that the top corners have a yellowish tinge. Its hardly noticable but i want to know if my LCD is overheating. I stopped the projector as soon as i saw it and im not sure what the temp was at the lcd because i dont have a thermometer.
Thanks,
Adam

Hi adam,
It sounds like your alignment of lenses and bulb/reflector may be off slightly. a form of hotspotting. can you see it when the projector is on, but the lcd is off?

Ill check, but im thinking it might be overheating in the bottom 2 corners because i have mounted my fresnel on a peice of pine about 2 inches long, and it is blocking the air path about 2 inches in. My theory is that the 2 bottom corners are not getting the airflow because of the 2 peices of pine blocking the air from going to the fan.
I'll have a look and see about the alignment - thanks for the reply, much appreciated.
Thanks,
Adam

OK,
I checked to see if it was there without the lcd on, and it didnt seem to be. The on ly time i can notice it is when the blue win xp welcome screen comes up. otherwise u cant see it. i think im being a bit to critical but im only critical because im scared it might do permenant damage to my lcd. If it was my lcd overheating, is it permenatly damaged, or is it temporary?
Thanks,
Adam

Well i checked my welcome screen on my crt, and while it is not a light yellow in the corners it does fade to a whitish blue. This could be as simple as the colors and saturation you have the lcd set to or the wood may be casting a color shift, but i would defenetly get a thermometer to see what you have for a temp there. I love my digital thermomiter with 10' probe on it.
temp probei believe that the lcd will turn to a blackish liquidy color if it gets to hot.

This might very easily be your problem, please recheck all your lens allignment assembly and make sure that nothing has moved out out of spec. I had the exact same yellowy shadow on my screen and after thouroughly checking and rechecking, I found out that my lenses were off a bit and because of that the light
wasn't hitting the triplet lens dead center as it's supposed to, thus causing light loss on the top part of the screen.

just to be safe, get a temp gauge like the one Moose has, I got mine from wal mart in the hardware section, this way you will know for sure that your panel stays cool.
