Is there ANYWHERE on this site that contains detailed instructions for this project??? Most of what I find are user questions, or updates on projects. I have read through the basic beginner's guide, but I need more detail, more instructions etc unsure.gif

My bad, I misread your original post.

The wiki is down from the server move, unfortunately, but it is really only a slightly more fleshed out version of the beginner's guide.

What don't you understand?

I guess for an example, one question is in relevance to stripping hte LCD. I have just completed my very first LCD strip (man i'm so excited about that haha, and it works too cause i connected power the plug in circuit board, as well as the power button clip and LCD clip into the other circuit board yay), and I need to know exactly what I keep and what I toss. I know you DEF keep the LCD with the circuit board/edge connectors. I'm also positive you keep the circuit board with the VGA plug in on it, and i'm only fairly positive you keep the circuit board with the plug in on it (i'm only fairly sure because somehow in my mind it seems that it could be feasible to not use that circuit board and to take care of power supply with something else.) Everything else i'm pretty positive you can throw away, the thing metal parts, the metal casing, the backlight etc.

Another example would be connecting all the power. I'm assuming ALL power goes through the ballast? And when it hits the ballast it directs most of the power to the lamp and some of hte power to the other things that need power, mainly the LCD.

No offense but you definitely need to read a bunch more plogs before plugging anything into the wall or you're liable to get hurt.

See my sig for a good wiring diagram.

As you will see in the diagram, all power does NOT go through the ballast. Many LCDs have just one controller, which contains both the power input jack and the source jacks. If yours has two, you will need to keep both. Some people retain the metal frame for use in their LCD sled. Some toss it. You can definitely toss the backlight (but then again, why not hold onto it, if you need to check the LCD outside the projector?).

Maybe you could p.m. someone who's already built the basic box, commonly refered to as the 'straight coffin'.Or do a search.Or sit back and read, read, read.I'm sure you'll find your answers somewhere on this forum. You can also go to the focal calculator for dimensions although it does'nt come with exact instructions about building the box, wiring, lighting.Lumenlab used to charge a price just for the basic knowledge about DIY PJ's,which you,me,and thousands of others already read for free now.

Maybe they should post the -detailed- basic 15" build, complete with exact box dimensions, lighting, lenses, wiring etc.,for a small price.

But DIYers take the info they're given and do something with it Benji smile.gif .Keep readin' the forum, you'll find your answers I bet.
