I hope the other LL member that sent me this pm isn't mad about me posting his pm but I thought that this should be public knowledge.

Re:Screen Fix Really that simple?, Today, 08:20 AM

I felt about as dumbfounded as yourself. That is when I realized YES you can just cut off the 220 austaili plug and wire a us 110v plug on and it works! The remote and wired switch both work for me, however up/down is reversed? maybe because of the voltage switch? who knows, but yes thats all that it did, and i love it.

The motor rolls the screens up and down very very slowly, not a big deal, maybe it would be faster powered by 220v? I don't know for sure, but possibly. There seems to be no strain on it, whatsoever, and the wired controller works awesomely, with the exception that up is down and down is up, no big deal for me.

Liability is everything with companies, everyone has a lawyer in waiting, they just have to be cautious, however they are gracious enough to have a link to their "rewiring post" on their store website to help us out. It only takes 1 person. But I'm happy as a pig in Sh*t with my screen and LL knows this so everything seems to work it self out as far as I am concerned.

Any other questions?
I hope my plog has helped with other ppl that bought the screen thats why I posted pics and the info

I bought the screen myself and it arrived. Actually one of the pins was bent during shipping. If I understand correctly, all you've done is cut off the old end and wire in a new US polarized plug [correctly attaching the three wires of course]. This works for you? Up? Down? Stop?

It seems to power the motor accurately without too much strain? I realize the motor is designed to run at 110V according the threads, but it seems like there should be more to it than that. What of the wired controller? No problem there?

Sorry to be in such disbelief, but why wouldn't Lumenlab simply make a converter plug and ship it with the kit or an instruction sheet to cut off the end and replace it. I realize there's potential liability in telling folks to do something with the wiring; however, it cannot be any more dangerous than building the projector with their associated wiring dangers and fire possibilities.

Just feel like we're missing something. Please let me know. I am very interested in your successes with this. Thanks.

The up and down buttons are reversed?

Heck, I just thought it was that way because it came over with the rest of the junk from China.

Everyone knows if you dig a hole straight through the earth you'll hit China. So that would make their up down and their down up. biggrin.gif tongue.gif

I was thinking it was because it was manufactured for use in Australia - you know... the land down under.
Just like the water in their drains flow in the opposite direction, it only make sense that their other directions are different, too.
