Hi all

I am about to buy a BenQ 17" panel as my 15.4" deal fell through. I do have a choice of the 17" wide and 17" standard 4:3 panel for the same price. I'd just like to know whether it will be more beneficial to get the widescreen version... and also, if it will be compatible with my fresnels and standard 330mm triplet (optolife). I have the two large A395a and A395b lenses from 3dlens.

below is a diagram which IS to scale, and it seems it will fit the widescreen on these lenses, but.... will the wide still be compatible with the standard 330mm triplet... what are the advantages (if any) of going with the widescreen instead?

Either way, a 17" screen with a 330mm triplet will be a very short throw.

Me? I'd probably go widescreen, given the choice.

Note: 17" LCDs are not 4:3 but 5:4 (1280X1024)

What brand and model widescreen. I personally would use widescreen. With the standard lens the throw would be short and have a big screen 110 or more at 7 ft from the wall. You can see in my plogs. I currently am using a 17 inch 1080p widescreen lcd panel using the G2A 130 controller (both run about $600.00 ) with awesome results using the pro lens. I replaced my 19 inch widescreen with the 17 inch one in my vertical plog.

Based on experience I've gained here I'd vote widescreen as well.

My only concern would be the amount of light through a 330fl triplet.....

But I would say go widescreen as well, it would be better suited for HTPC and home theater use for movies, and will have a better resolution more than likely for high def content.
