Well, my projector is a 20 footer at this moment. Half stained. I decided to paint it instead halfway through staining. I will post pics of it, I am thinking black lacquer. Inside, it is generic as can be. The toshiba has fantastic color saturation.
The HDFury is a great piece of 'ware. Thanks for the compliments. It turned out 10 times better than I thought it would.

When you get up close you can see that the antiglare is seriously hindering clarity. I am torn on whether to destroy this panel getting it off there.
Wait and see if I've destroyed mine. If I can do it you certainly can.

Lets see, I have killed 3 panels so far. 1 Samsung ripped the polar off then dropped it. 1 Samsung polished the A/G until the FFCs broke. 1 Sharp cracked while removing A/G. The projection would really be amazing if the A/G was removed from this Toshiba LCD. Color is fantastic already. Even the blues are nice.
From what I understand the Toshiba has A/G on both sides? People have managed to remove both sides with anywhere from 2 - 12 hour water soaks. Also, the glass is either extremely FRAGILE or ChristmasGT is very clumsy, or both. (j/k bro). It just looks dirty right now and it's eating me up knowing that it could be so much better.
So let me know Durachko, and best of luck brother-man.

i removed the front antiglare from my toshiba about a month ago it was just a 6 hour soak for me and it came right off!
just the usual paper towels and warm water heck i even used tap water witch some people on here highly recommend not doing! i used a couple of supersoft towels to hold the lcd on an angle with the ffc's on top and the downward part going into a cake pan to catch the excess water (wife would kick my butt if i got the water on the table) super easy really i set everything up the night before went to bed got up in the morning and poured the warm water on it made some coffee drank the whole 10 cup pot by then it was almost lunch time so i stopped watching tv and checked it and it came off...
1 thing remember reading though is once you start pulling it off your committed to doing so or you'll leave lines on the lcd where you stopped each time but like i said mine came off with one pull

Thats reassuring. I am definitely going to try this. It would make a huge difference I think. What do you think? Was the difference pretty dramatic?
By the way, there are more pictures up of PS3 and XBOX PIP!!!! Also some G2A220 settings, Halo3 Pics, National Treasure 2 Trailer. Check it out.

No question a continuous pull is best. Also, based on my experiences I'd strongly recommend no one ever try less than a 10 to 12 hour soak. Too much/long (done right) I think won't ever be a problem. To little/short can ruin your day.
I was lucky and am finding my residue (after removing my backside antiglare) comes off with careful wiping using extremely pure water and non-abrasive wipes. Of course, there's still the question of whether I've damaged any of the electronics during handling.
I don't intend to test the panel until it's in place since testing it alone is adding another step where I may damage something.
My Toshiba 15.4" WUXGA has (errr . . . had) simple diffusive antiglare (neither polarizing properties nor extreme mirror look to it although it did have more of a mirror look than what I'd consider normal) on the backside of the panel. It has a glossy front which I don't think I'll bother removing but there is this one annoying little booger sandwiched between this front anti-reflective and that may push me over the edge someday.

your paint job also reinforces my thoughts of going with tiddler's pearl mix instead of mudmaxxx on my new screen.

I managed to do a perfect job of removing both the front and back antiglare and now the projection is about twice as bright, no color distortion and the pixels are clean and bright and each individual pixel is all the same color. The only issues are that any jaggies in the video are easily visible (not really a problem), and the "screen door" is very apparent and very sharp at close distances. Both these things are actually good indicators of clarity. It looks fantastic. My wife even noticed how nice it looked.
Both sides of the LCD soaked for 12 hours, and both came off in about 2 seconds in one pull. I used tap water. I also used a super soft paintbrush of the kind that painter/artists use ( not house painting brushes ) to clean the lint off, popped it in the projector and WOW. I reset all the contrast and saturation settings on the G2A and retweaked to taste.
I will take pictures and post in a new Gallery. But right now, I am full of pumpkin pie, and I am going to lay in bed and watch my measly 42inch plasma and catch up on some "Big Bang Theory".
Just wow.

Well now there's one thing to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. Congrats on your success RHH.

One among many friend. For instance, today I discovered that it takes a three year old to completely run down another three year old. My twins came home from grandma's house and passed out on the couch 3 hours before bedtime after playing with their cousin all day long. FIRST TIME EVER for them to go to sleep outside of the usual process which involves voodoo and sometimes blunt force. My wife and I just stood there and stared. They are so cute when they are unconscious. :-)
Hope you had a fine turkey day!

Hey bro, What thingo are you using to enable the PIP, side by side channel???
RedHerringHack
Nov 24 2007, 02:37 PM
Yeah, It cannot be twice as bright, probably some percentage around 8-10. I think the clarity gives the illusion of it being much brighter. I am using the Winmate G2A220 controller board which has PIP built in. It is a really nice controller, but the remote control isn't working as well as I would want. Could be the remote, could be the board. dunno at this point.
We will be watching movies tonight, so I will be taking bluray pics and I will post them. My triplet needs cleaning, probably won't do much for the projection, but it is bothering me and the last lens to be cleaned.
NO MORE FIFTH ELEMENT PICTURES! I am SICK of 5th element. I have seen her so much that the HOTTIE has turned NOTTIE. There's a lesson there guys. :-)

I was playing Halo3 and it looks a lot better than it did, however I just realized that Halo3 runs in 576p. Thats what my G2A is telling me. Looks like no antialiasing either, so it's not really a good demo of sharp or bright. With the HDR, the game is maddening. You can see fine looking one way, but you turn to look in a dark direction and the HDR takes way too much time to adjust to the range of light in the new direction you are looking. I think they are trying to simulate pupil dialation and reaction times. I like the game, but it is a poor demonstration source.
I have discovered that I can't even see what is eating me until I am being digested in some cases. Anyone else experience this?
Tonight! Live Free or Die Hard on BluRay!

You should get the Orange Box. Half-Life 2 and it's iterations incorporate HDR quite well I found. Plus I hear that Portal is just a giggle.

Without the HDFury, 1080p with the G2A220 wouldn't be possible because of COPY PROTECTION. It works as advertised and completely transparently. There is no analog noise, none, as I was expecting. My config goes:
PS3 >>> HDMI (HDCP) to DVI cable >>> HDFURY ( DVI to VGA ) >>> VGA port on G2A220. Zero noise because
it is analog for about 2 inches until it hits the A to D converters. No noise at 1920 X 1200 either. Worth every cent.
Don't remember where I got it.
I just watched Live Free or Die Hard in 1080p BluRay and it was exquisite. Improbable, but absolutely fantastic in visuals.
