My projector is completed. My lcd worked fine before i stripped and installed it. It now has a vertical red line on the left side of the screen and a vertical blue line on the right side of the screen. Its not terrible i will post pictures later on. What have i done to cause this so that i dont do it again, and can it be fixed?

You've likely damaged one of the delicate cables going to the panel. It's prolly the single most common problem experienced regarding stripping and using these things. The only solution is usually attempting to remedy the problem by very, very, very gently prodding the cabling in-line with the faulty line of pixels to see if gentle, gentle pressure can "fix" the bad row/column of pixels and then putting into place some permanent pressure to keep the problem from coming back.

Couple possibilities come to mind. A loose or damaged connector between panel and controller, too much pressure on a one or more ffcs, a torn/ripped ffc, or a dead column of pixels.

The first two are correctable, the third is theoretically correctable (but not likely) if you can find the site of the tear(s) and perfectly re-mate the edges with hot glue or something, the fourth I believe is a done deal.

Preventive measures for such snafus include being very, very careful wink.gif and using hot glue or silicone to reinforce the ffcs. There's a pretty good pictorial on using silicone linked in this thead.

Other ideas... this site suggests making sure your video card or ram aren't at fault (assuming you haven't tested the source on another display).

This post sounds like your problem, though different colors. And this page might help you zero in on a diagnosis (see example 2)

Sorry to hear about your problems and hope that helps.

The FFC connects to a board and that board is connected via a white IDE type cable to the tuner board that recieves all the iputs connections, in order to orient these components in my projector i had to unfold this cable that had a factory crease and glue, I had to be rather forcefall. Could this be the problem, and where could i find a replacement? I will check to ensure the FFC is not under any strain and get some pics of my configuration.
