Ok, I could use a little help here. I've been wondering if there's a way to letterbox windows so that it will only use the middle portion of a 4:3 display. Here's the deal: I'm running a 4:3 projector, with a 16:9 screen. When I'm playing a widescreen movie, all is well, and it fits the screen perfectly. As soon as I'm done with the movie, I go back to windows, and the top and bottom of the display spill over onto the walls a few feet behind the screen, and I can't navigate anymore. Is there any possible way to get windows to display in a letterbox form? Just so it doesn't use the top and bottom of the panel, and the taskbar and everything will be visible on the screen again. Any ideas?

Thanks SIMUL8R, I didn't know it had that capability. Hey, so are you still at McChord? I've got an friend there that's interested in starting a build. I should have you two get in touch so you can encourage him to take the plunge... tongue.gif

Ok, I just tried powerstrip, and I can't seem to get it to do what I want. I can make a 16:9 resolution, but it just fills the whole 4:3 panel and stretches everything out. How can I get it to letterbox my display?

Ok, nevermind. I got it figured out. I had to "Lock total Geometry" before I created the custom resolution. Now I've got 1024x576 displaying on a 1024x768 panel, with black bars at the top and bottom. Fits my 16:9 screen perfectly. biggrin.gif

Funny thing is, he actually works at the simulator now. Maybe you should give him your username... laugh.gif
