Hello everybody , i just find out that it's very interested that i could make one for me . But i have some question about it before starting to work .
1. Is the balast necessary ? is anything ok without it ?
2. can we use the lcd from the USB picture frame , just about 7 inche , or 1.5 inch ehehe ?
3. I want to use the bulb from the Evo 1.2 >> 150 watt , is that ok ? does it need the balast ?
4.Is xenon bulb ok ?

thank you .

1. yes a ballast is necessary. The lamps we use need higher power than standard household lamps.
2. No. Most don't have a way to input a video signal from a dvd player/pc/etc. And they also usually have poor resolution / refresh rates/ and contrast ratios.
3. It most likely will not be bright enough for 99% of users.
4. No they aren't bright enough for our projectors.

Stick with a good 250w or 400w Metal Halide lamp and the Pro Reflector. It works.

2. Probably not. Some of these now can show video from a SD card, or similar memory device, but you'd need to spend a lot of time converting your video to a compatable format, and then dealing with the audio separately. Practically, that means no, but if you're determined enough, and get one that can show video, then it's possible.

3. You could use an eVo lamp, I suppose, but you would need a ballast for that lamp. I had heard that the eVo ballasts would be available in the store, but I haven't seen them there. It won't be the brightest lamp for a DIY, but it could be made to serve. There are several people using 150W lamps who are happy wioth their projections, and I think that this could do the job. I was hoping to use an eVo lamp and ballast to retrofit a commercial projector that I have.

No we can't use more than one bulb.

We need a single point light source to work with the fresnels. Multiple light sources won't work.
