I started designing my projector in CAD today. I am using a 17" LCD with the new optics. Using the basic design as a guide. The new Field fresnel has a focal length of 790 mm which is 31.102". Does that mean that the triplet will be mounted 31.102" from the field fresnel ?! That would make my projector over 4' long! Is that right or has the coffee not kicked in fully?

No the triplet is going to be roughly 572mm from the panel.

Well, that makes for a smaller box. So the 572 mm is from the center of the LCD to the back of the triplet, yes? I can't tell from the drawings, are all the dimensions from the centerlines of the lens and lcd? Using the newer optics how far from the LCD, centerline, does the collector fresnel ned to be if you allow it to adjust for keystone, still 20 mm? If so that only gives you about 6 degrees of swing, is that enough? Sorry for all the questions, my mind is a little warped after reading so many post on the awesome site. Definitely worth the entrance fee!

572 is to the back of the lens. The distance of the field lens really depends on how much keystone you need. It is best to keep the field lens as close to the panel as possible (without seeing the fresnel lines in the projection), so calculate accordingly.
