Hi guys, I'm currently putting together a 15.4" WUXGA LCD based 1080p projector, and am looking for a HDMI source for it.

Has anyone been looking into these? I found the Onkyo latest series look very nice, but I really don't know receivers and wanted opinions.

This is the one that I'm currently eying up: Onkyo 605, there's a 705 and more, it's the smallest of the range really, but still pretty nice.

Does anyone out there have something they'd like to recommend to HT newbies like myself?

Any thoughts would be great smile.gif

Cheers,
Max

Onkyo 605 - is the best product of 2007.
If you have money - buy it.

I've always had great experiences with Onkyo. you can get them cheaper if you buy directly from onkyo (they are refurbed but everyone says they look/perform like new.)

I love my Onkyo, but beware theres a downside to the HDMI models... they make an annoying audible click when switching audio modes (dolby, PCM, dts), it does it during playback of Blu-rays and those extinct competitors of theirs. Kinda lame cause I love onkyo stuff but that is not tolerable... not everyone has a separate soundproofed rack room, and thats not Onkyo's demographic anyways (that would be Integra's). Unless they have fixed this, last I checked on their website they said it was 'completely normal' in their FAQ... so I guess its not a big deal to them. The Yamahas ive been installing lately are nice... the rx-v1800 I believe is really nice, a littile bit pricey, but worth it if you can afford it. I just want Arcam to incorporate true 7.1, but a lot of the 'pro' brands seem to be holding out on the HDMI... it is lame, but what are you going to do... just make sure it has lip sync correction... drawback of one cable for audio/video.
