Hello all,

I am about to submit my order but I would like a few opinions to make sure I'm ordering everything I need. I am going to be building a 17" pro setup. I would like to order everything from Lumenlab.com as this site has helped me learn so much I would like to give back.

Can one of you guru's tell me if I am ordering everything I need? Below is a list of all the items I would like to purchase:

1. 220mm Pro Fresnel Lens
2. 650mm Pro Fresnel Lens
3. Pro Projection Lens Triplet
4. LL/Vue 400w eBallast
5. Mogul Base HID Socket
6. 65K T15 Lamp
7. Pro Reflector
8. Power Entry Module
9. 120mm Fan Guard (2 of these)
10. 120mm Vibration Dampener (2 of these)
11. 5 amp Circuit Breaker
12. 120V AC Adaptor

I don't know which 17" LCD monitor I will use as of yet. Also, I will get the three prong power cable from work along with the 120mm fans. I can get these free or I would also get them from lumenlab.com. I also plan on using oak or birch wood for my housing and am thinking of doing a Haas style build for my system.

I would like to know if those are all the parts I will need, besides the wood and LCD of course. Is there anything I'm missing to add to my list.

Finally, this seems to be getting into the 700-900 dollar range (USA), so despite the learning aspect and replacement bulb price is there any advantages or disadvantages to just buying the eVo or another consumer projector.

Also, does anybody have the plans for a Haas style build for a 17" setup. I have the 15" setup diagrams but it would be nice if the 17" ones were already available.

Thanks to all in advance for any responses!!!

It looks good to me. You might want to look into purchasing Lexan/tempered glass for heat protection of your LCD/lenses. Some flashing would help too, to prevent a fire being started by your bulb burning up your wood.

EDIT: I don't think building a 17" Haas ought to be that hard if there are already 15" plans. Just convert everything to your sizes, using the same designs.

I believe flashing is a metal source of some sort that goes around the bulb. Is that correct. If this is correct could you give me some good examples. I had planned to paint the inside of the box black with the heat paint they use for inside BBQ's. Also I know about the Lexan or Tempered glass. I forgot to mention that but thanks for the reminder again.

Hey, i went through the same stuff you did with the heat shielding and such, i used High temp, flat black paint and some metal ducting. What i did was i bought 1 peice of flat tin stuff (same as used in ducting, not sure on actual name) and then cut it to fit the bottom and back of my box, to cover the wiring, then i went to the ducting section of home hardware and looked at all the premade peices they had. I then made a cover type thing for the lamp that also holds my reflector, you can see some pictures in my plog:

People suggested to me not to make it actually COVER the lamp, so i trimmed it back enough to expose the lamp itself, i have no metal on the sides or top but i painted the WHOLE inside with that high temp paint, the top and sides dont get hot at all, just mildly warm, even after 6+ hours of running.

Hey Kawana. Thanks for the reply, some good ideas. Couple questions for you though. (Firstly, that stuff you used for the flashing is called sheet metal)

Questions:
1. What are these called and where did you get them? I'm assuming you are using them to hold the Pro Reflector?

2. Does your mogul slide at all being that you mounted it on the bottom it doesn't look as though it does?

Those are PC fan grilles with the center parts cut out of them. It's a farily common trick around here to use those to hold stuff.
