After reading about a screen using RGB paints that got me thinking.

How did sony do that black screen ?

After a long afternoon's reading on various reflective materials I came across Cholesteric Film.

It is a material that reflects certain wavelengths of light but lets all others through. Very interesting post-418-1138467278.gif

So this means we could make a screen that reflects the wavelengths of light from our projectors utilising the whole screen. The problem with the paints is that at best we will only ever have 1/3rd of the projected red green or blue light reflected back.

So my idea is to get 3 layers of Cholesteric Film, comprising of RGB
Stick them all together
Have a blackout screen at the back
This should make a super bright ambient light screen, just like sonys biggrin.gif

I know I haven't gone into much detail, I'm still reading up on it, but I thought I better write something down before I forget it all ^^
