Okay, that makes more sense. Did you deviate any from the wiring diagram as laid out in the guide?

Nope, this is my first projector. I am far from ready to start designing my own. I followed the instructions to the "T" I dont understand it. when i flip the switch the fuse blows. i may have to change switches.

I'd recommend checking all your common's a hot's to verify that none of the wires are in direct contact with each other. Then I'd replace the switch.

Break it down piece by piece. Start by wiring the fuse and ballast without any switches. If the fuse pops the problem is in the ballast wiring (or the ballast itself).

Thanks everybody for your help so far. Brain i did as you sed and its not the ballast it lit up the lamp with no problem (the fuse did not blow) I use the same thing to test my fan and the fuse did not blow. It was my switches (They went into file 13 aka the trash), and i went and got new household switches (3 way 15a 120v ) and they blew the fuse too. so im not exactly sure whats going on....

What are you using for a fan and ballast? Can you draw out how you have your circut setup so we can take a look.
Cheers,

If it works off line power, and the fan works also, and you've gotten new switches; it has to be your switch wiring. (Also the household line switches have a lug that most be broken off to get a true interlock.)

Why are you using 3-way switches? The diagram in the guide uses standard spst switches ( a normal light switch ). A 3 way switch would have 3 screw terminals ( some have a 4th terminal for ground on the metal support for the switch ). How do you have the three terminals connected?
David.

problem solved! Thanks everybody (again) I returned the 3 way switch and got single post switch worked like a charm. I have hooked up car audio that was easier than this. but now that it is done it seems so simple. I had to laugh at myself for making it more difficult than it really is. . Im waiting for my norpro before i start putting everything in my enclosure. and for my next trick i will be stripping a Gateway FPD 1500. So when i come crying be prepared.
p.s.
and for those that dont know
SPST = Single Pole Switch Terminal

Glad to hear that you've got your electrical running, but I have a question. Are you now using only one switch to control your projector?
If you are, you will lose the ability to keep the fan on for a while after shutting off the lamp.
I know you said that you were following the diagram exactly, but you said "switch" in singular, so I was concerned that you decided to deviate from the plan.
