I'm new to the small panel scene, and I'm wondering: what are the steps needed to get a controller working with a panel? eg. does it require some programming/flashing, and if so how would I do this?

Also, how would you know which controller is compatible?

I'm wondering the same atm. I have this controller which should be able to work with like 95% of the LCD's around, but first it needs to be programmed specific for the panel it's being used with. Is this something you could do yourself?

Just a quick reply:

Controllers need to be programmed for a specific panel. This is usually done by a third party and can be quite expensive.
I don't think anybody on this forum has any first-hand experience programming controllers.

Frying, your controller should work for the panels specified by the seller. If you have any questions about how to get the controller working, it would be best to contact that seller.

Yeah the seller programs the thing, but to do so he needs info on the panel. Which I don't have yet haha. So for now I have put him on hold.

He specificely asked for info on a label at the back of the panel. Not sure if mine will have one (it's being shipped atm). Is this something you can find on most/all panels? Right now I only know from which laptop the panel came, and that's just not enough to find the info the seller needs.

Yes. The panel should have a brand and model # on it.

Thats the exact same auction I saw from a guy in Hong Kong for $55 USD. I asked him twice if he could program it for my LCD and he never got back to me.
I wonder where these guys are getting them....
Someone else on LL has dealt with this guy in China and says it works but takes like 4-8 weeks and you should be sure to do your research on the "native resolution" of the LCD youre using. It may scale to better but wont look any better.
