‘Kay time for another game! It’s the much anticipated (at least by me) Lumen Lab Virtual Halloween Costume Party! It will be a combo of something like unto the novella (see “How NOT to find a stud in an old house”) and a slowly unfolding raucous evening. Rules are simple:

1. Have a costume and take photos.

2. Each photo will allow you one post to describe how the party is unfolding. (Yes, you get for one god-like turn to decide what other people who have entered the party are doing). So this means having a plethora of pics could be a very good idea.

2a. Others can post, it’s just that to further the story a pic will be required. Gotta pay to play.

So start planning now, if you haven’t already, and while the story will be fun, we will also vote on best costume and the winner will get a prize. The prize will be an original drawing or painting by me. Plus there is the added bonus that the piece will come with a certificate of authenticity and thus the winner will also get to know my real name. (Take note my stalkers. )

Oh and to get the ball rolling I will try to find a pic of “Candie: the modestly dressed, moderately priced hooker” to post. I’m getting ready to move right now so people pledging to join in will help amp my enthusiasm to find said photo.

Upon reaching the imposing mansion the gravity of the evening began to sink in... just as the large oaken doors opened of their own accord... beckoning the guest to enter.

The Hostess waited quietly at the far end of the great hall as her guests entered. She could see amusement on some faces, curiousity and a touch trepidation on others. She smiled to herself in the act of realizing that this night could hold as many surprises for her as she had planned for them.

'Kay, weirdest thing happened when I went to go find my Candie pic. I found the envelope that had other pictures from that night and all my spare "business cards", but no picture of me in costume. Apparently someone who had access to my room wanted a keepsake.

Luckily my little sister made me promise to go see her that night before the party so she had a photo. Too bad for y'all I don't bear insidious amounts of cleavage in front of family members. Wonder who has that other photo....

Last time I got drunk, the comparison made was that when I'm smashed I act like my brothers sober. My older brother is hosting the party and my "adopted" brothers will all be there egging me on cuz they still haven't gotten me to make a complete idiot out of myself. All kinds of fun!

Well the idea was a virtual costume party but since things aren't so well attended just yet, might as well make it about the party you attend. The party I'll be hitting will be pretty wild and so I'll actually have to sensor rather than drum up action.

holy monkey!, that "Kaptin" costume is mad genius, I suddenly feel like I need a few more accessories for my costume. (even though my costume by nature calls for a lack of accessories)

Yeah I modded those RC trucks so he could walk on them. The backpack is a vintage Rainbow Bright number and that duck in his crotch yells "Aflac" when hit. The helmet is quite a work and needs to be seen in the round to be fully appreciated. In the whole ensemble he was well over 7 feet tall. Later in the evening he added the "ham bags". A pair of dangling ham "testicles" wrapped in plastic wrap. The host of the party's dog gave them a good licking. That was one of the high points of the evening.

Please, please, please get video if you ever have another blessed event such as that. Wow!!!

Oh I'm plenty crude. I do use the term "balls" and I've begun to embrace a saying that is more fun than "F--- off." That being, "Eat a bag of dicks." 'Course I pronounce it as "Eetabahgadeeks," so if anyone overhears me I say it's Greek for "Have a nice day."

Gonna try that one on my Greek co-worker. From at least two arms lengths away.

Had this New Zealander who had the damndest phrases. Always <with his accent> "Cool bahnahnahs." "Hurray for us." "You rock guy." or "Guy, you rock." And "Oh balls." (Eh, you hadda be there . . .)

I grew up with a kid from England and he always had the best descriptive phrases...the first time he used the word "wanker", I almost fell off my chair...

Years ago, back when I lived in Florida, I had some friends who had a band named the Wankers.
At that time, no one there got the joke at all.

Did he introduce you to the meaning of the term Richard(s)? That one was a real curve ball for me and I'm not sure how prevalent it really is.

Ha, and that one reminded me of some radio show Richard Cranium jokes from the 80's.

So how many people are going to enter this contest? Other than myself, I'm counting 2 right now.

Just for the sake of maybe enticing some others, I'll list why the prize is a good thing to put some effort towards getting. (Maybe I'm stroking my ego, but it's hard to say. )

1. By time I coordinate with the winner, get the prize finished and ship it, it would make a lovely Christmas gift. I'm just thinking out loud here, but I believe a commissioned artwork from a mysterious rocky mountain region painter could get some points with the Mrs.

2. Works I consider being from one of my "series" can't be purchased. (People have asked.) They only leave my possession if gifted.

3. The last time I donated a piece to a charity auction, it fetched more than twice the next highest piece.

4. I was recently asked to quote what I would charge for a smallish (16"x20") commisioned painting. After seeing my portfolio, the patron was shocked how "reasonable" an estimate of $400 was.

5. Oh yeah. It's completely free!

So there you go, a few reasons to raid the closet and come join the fun.

It's not nearly as brilliant as you think it is if you'd heard the same joke SJ did that I made at my expense earlier this week. And besides, D, with all the filthy things I've said, do you really think that had escaped my notice?

I love ya, dear Samurai, and that kind of stroking leads to no more moisture than anytime I reflect on a field I studied and trained for and now don't participate in due to other worldly factors... like earning a living and whatnot. I thought this would be a good motivator to get myself to paint again, if I promised someone a prize. You should know by now, I don't break promises.

I guess nobody caught the subtlety of point 2. Paintings I've done as a form of self-expression can't be purchased. I don't sell off parts of my soul, but I was willing to share some for the people here who have brought me a lot of joy... until recently.

This whole thing has become tainted for me now. I'm calling it off. Sorry to bail on the people who made a good-faith effort. Guess I do break promises after all.
