Newb here with a question:

I am getting a weird problem with the video coming out of my eVo. Since I hooked everything to a receiver, there are horizontal lines moving slowly from the bottom to top of the image.

I just got a used Sony STR-DE945 receiver. I have a DVD player, PS1 and digital cable box running to the receiver. Originally, video was running to the eVo via a 25' RCA video cable. When I noticed the moving lines, I switched everything to high-quality S-Video using 6' cables from components to receiver and a 10-meter cable to the projector hoping that would cure the problem. It did not. The color, contrast, etc. of the image was MUCH improved over the RCA connection, but the moving lines were still there. I hooked the PS1 back up via the RCA cables, and the lines were still there. I unplugged the DVD player from the receiver, and ran a 6' RCA cable straight to the projector. The lines were gone.

This leads me to believe that it is either the length of the cable causing the problem (which I highly doubt simply because it is the same with the RCA cable AND the S-Video Cable) or it is some sort of interference from the receiver. There is one more bit of info I should mention: I live about 200 yards from a huge AM/FM radio tower. Sometimes my subwoofer transmits the AM radio signal when it is powered on (but not all the time). I was just wondering if anybody had any suggestions.

Thanks in advance!!!

Hook up the Ps1 and cable box separately one at a time also to make sure one of them isn't throwing interference into the receiver. Then just hook up the receiver to the Evo and test. Then plug the PS1 into the receiver and test. Then hook up the cable box to the receiver and test. If you don't have an antenna on your receiver, use a 75 ohm terminator on the antenna input (something to try).

I had a VCR, Xbox, and Dreamcast running to a GameStop switchbox and I started getting lines in my Evo picture. It took a long time to figure out what was causing it. I spent alot of time when the evo top off poking inside for the problem. The actual problem was that when the cable was hooked up to the VCR, the VCR was throwing interference through the audio/video outputs of the vcr and putting it into the switchbox. No matter what component I was switched to, I had the interference. I got rid of the vcr and switchbox and got a Samsung satellite receiver to use as a switchbox and to pick up OTA digital channels.

I was using a Logitech z-5500 surround sound system. It started picking up AM stations. I gave up on getting rid of the interference. It was a nightmare. Fixed that problem by getting a Yamaha receiver.

If you find that it is definitely the receiver and can't find a way to stop the interference, I would not use it as a switchbox. Get a cheap manual or remote control digital switchbox (yes, another remote... I have 10 of them) or a satellite receiver (a few Samsung models pick up OTA digital channels and can be had off of ebay for around $40.... then you can still watch tv if you cable goes out alot like mine).
