Hey quick question before I blow something up smile.gif

My Electronic Ballast has 3 wires coming off of it, Blue, Green, & Brown. I have gathered from past threads that I do not need the Green. My mogul socket has two wires, black and white. Am I correct in assuming Blue should go to White and Brown should go to Black?

Thanks in advance for the help...

Yes, brown to black, blue to white. The green is usually for a ground connection.

Could somebody pin this to the top? It seems to get asked quite often, I asked it myself. Its tough to find through the search.

Anthony, I would highly suggest that you connect that ground wire, you can connect it to the ground wire of your AC plug. You dont want the ballast using you as the ground- not very good health wise. LOL

Good advice. Even if your ballast has 2 grounds, it will not hurt to connect them both.

Also, in my post I assumed (I've got to learn to stop doing that) that you have the right wires. I believe there are 2 sets of brown, blue, and green wires. One for the connection to your electric supply and one for connection to the lamp socket.

So you are suggesting I hook up both the incoming ground and the outgoing ground?

yes..all the ground gets tied together...cause they all need to go.."to Ground"

Thanks, I had read that first thread before, that is where Brain says you don't need to hook the outgoing ground to anything unless you have an enclosed fixture... my ballast is identical to the one referenced in that thread.

It is true. The ballast is grounded by the 3 wire input plug. The ground going to the lamp would attach to the metal enclosure, which you don't have. Hooking up that ground is not nevessary.

Brain,

Can you use the ground going to the lamp for grounding the PCB's for the LCD panel?
