I have often thought it would be interesting to make a screen with no black border. Then mount it in front of black drapes or a flat black painted wall. That way the image would appear to be floating in mid air. Then someone started a "Floating" BOC Screen thread over on AVS that demonstrates the idea. I thought the folks here might find this an interesting way to implement a screen. Here are a couple of photos:

Mounting Brackets:

Of course this approach could be used with any type of DIY screen substrate. For example a similar frame with 1/8" white hardboard attached to the front, with or without paint. I would paint the edges of the screen flat black or apply some black cloth hockey tape to the edge.

Cool idea; I should do that with my screen, however I'm going to have to figure out another way to mount it, since I can't really drill holes in the walls of the college dorm wink.gif

Just Clip It!

Here is another ingenious, as in Macgyver-ish, way to make a BOC screen using aluminum tubing and big binder clips.

The wire part of the clips is easy to remove. The clips do show along the edge but I have seen colored clips, including white ones. If a border is constructed then it would hide the clips also.

Here is a link to the thread where this type of approach was discussed.

The above idea wast presented in Post #70.

Some ideas for borders were discussed starting at Post #140.

There are a lot of clever folks out there with some very good ideas, Eh!
