Full Version: Low Cost Lux Meter?!

Browsing through this site, people talk about $20-$35 lux meters. Only ones I see are near $120 to $400 blink.gif Where can one find a cheap, mail order lux meter? I could care less if it's off by a bit. If I'm 90% there, I'm happy.

cheapest way is to use a multimeter and a photodiode. It's not good for total lux readings but it's ok for testing different setups. At least better than judging only with your eyes.

Well thats what I was thinking. We do something similar here in the lab for laser light. However, I wonder if there is a way to get a base calibration for it. Like lets say a 100watt lightbulb 1 meter away is normally 100lux. So a reading of 17mV, will be 17mV = 100LUX. or something on that line.
