Hello,

I recently bought some parts for at std. 15" PJ. I am going with the HAAS style enclosure, but I have an issue with the bulb size if I mount it horizontally..

I found this bulb from HID hut on ebay, the center of the filament is ~7.5" from the base of the socket when assembled. The enclosure is designed to be only 14" horizonally, so naturally the filament could not be centered unless I could extend the mounting to just outside the enclosure.

METAL HALIDE 400W

I was going to try and mount the bulb on a diagonal, parallel with 15" measurement of the LCD. This will allow the filament to be centered both vertically and horizontally. I am also using the pro reflector.

Has anyone used this bulb before? I know it is more elongated, so I am curious about the light dispersion in the bulb itself; will I have hot spots following the diagonal?

Thanks in advance! I have learned a lot just by lurking around here.

Yes. yes you can as long as the arc is in the center and fits into triplet.

Universal mount lamps, such as the LL lamps (/U) can be mounted diagonally, however, this is not true of all MH lamps.

Many of these lamps have restrictuions on the angles that they can be mounted. Ones rated for horizontal (/H) must be mounted +/- 15 degrees from horizontal. Sumilarly those rated for vertical mounting (/BU /V) must be mounted the way that they are specified.

Be sure that you follow the restrictions of your particular lamp.
