For Halloween ,I will be setting up pj outside and blast onto front of our house (white siding) . I am starting to look for something cool to play ,like a movie or some kind of dvd that is different scary stuff on it , not the same thing or image on . What Ideas have people come up with or what do you suggest .This will be my first Halloween with my pj and I want to get some exicetment back into the neighbour hood .Quite a few people do get into it and I have only seen this done in town once before ,so it should be good for the neighbour hood kids.

My birthday is October 31st. How's about I send you a picture of me scowling and showing my missing tooth? That should give everyone a good scary laugh! biggrin.gif

Okay - I've put this out there plent of times now. I wonder if I'm going to get any presents THIS year? unsure.gif laugh.gif

Cool idea. Hope it works well for you. Maybe some dry ice "smoke" for good measure? smile.gif

Nosferatu would look pretty great projected on a house wall.

Yeah, this is a bad idea for me.
No matter how wrong I know it is I would be compelled beyond any control to project Evil Dead.

I wouldn't be able to help myself.

Every Halloween I have watched it.
since like when I had it on VHS.

And every Halloween my GF now wife says "That"s it get this off the TV" when the deadite jams a pencil into that girls ankle. tongue.gif

I have to agree with sensibull, any kind of film noir or old black and white horror would be perfect.

Gotta be wolf howls. Full moon shots. Bats. Oh but the possibilities are endless. Patch together a 30 minute or even 15 minute loop since you shouldn't have anyone camping out - eh? It's just a show for trick-or-treaters to see while they're fleecing you for all the candy you're worth. laugh.gif

Fantasia- Night on Bald Mt., the scene where the ghosts are coming out and flying, great white on black contrast images. Displays beautifully on a house

or if you want, multiple projectors

The pics that sensibull posted are really cool. If you use a computer you could even make a powerpoint of the pictures.

Good ideas so far , I kind of like the power point suggestion and the fantasia one is that a loop with the horse running or is it static. I was even thinking of micheal jaskons thriller , even though he is weird that is a good one.. We have all the fog machines and a basement full of stuff that we usually set up .this will add to it nicely..

The fantasia clip is a 30sec-1min clip, endlessly looped on my dvd player. There are no static images in any of my displays. Otherwise I would have just used a slide projector.

As to audio, I looped the Haunted Mansion Disney ride on cd.

Great idea! Where did you get the clip?

laugh.gif Great idea but I'd expect a gaggle of kids and adults standing in front of your house while playing that movie.

Oh and nice choice of the Fantasia clip projected, makes for a nice Holloween in Disneyland atmosphere. I bet the little tricksters luv'd it.

I am actually going to go set up a vcr with my prjector so i can go and watch that movie. (yes i know i only have the vhs of it and it makes me sad but i will hopefully get the dvd for my bday.) It should be amazing on a big screen.

-EDIT- Apparently no one knows where it is because no one in my house has watch a vhs tape for over 4 years.

FWIW, I have also tried what these guys have done

http://www.mikeandsharonrhodes.com/halloween.htm

The problem is that with even 6mil, it will still hotspot. And if you have a high-lumen pj, it will hotspot even more. The only partial success I've had was to fold the visquine over, effectively making a 12mil screen. It will still hotspot but not so much as before. It will be fine for the kids trick or treating but I wouldn't recommend full blown movie watching with it. If the had something even thicker, perhaps that TPO roofers membrane, it might just do the trick as good rear projecting material

All projection images used with my moviemate

Oh, and since most diy are designed to do front projection, and not rear projection, all images are backwards. Please note.
