Suggestions for LumenLab...

I'm currently comparing the LumenLab projector to one I can get here locally. I'm really attracted to the long bulb life and the cheap bulb replacements of the LumenLab one.

However it's very hard to compare them. There is no photos of this apparent remote that comes with the projector, no screen shots of the menu, or photos/video's of the LumenLab projector in action. All of these things are relatively easy to produce and I'm totally amazed that I can't get to these photos easily.

So does anyone out there own one of these can help me out here? I find the website completely lacking in information. I'm currently comparing this projector to this one:

Took the time give a worthy suggestion to the owners of lumenlab. Why should I go "looking" to find information on a product someone is selling? Why do you think when you walk into a store, people greet you and ask if they can help you with anything? I work hard for my money and if a company wants me to buy their product I think its completely common sense for them to make it as easy as cake.

If I were selling this project I'd have as much info linked directly from the front page as possible.

Didn't mean to sound like I was picking on you biggrin.gif I don't have an evo so I can't tell you anything about it. I understand your point of view though

That's understandable. But the people here at LL are good people with customer service that is amazing. Sure those are good suggestions, and I would recommend them as well - but please, do refrain from being the customer everyone dreads dealing with. No one likes those customers, no one.

If you work hard for your money why do you suddenly get lazy when you visit this site?

A forum is a very effective way to relay information not only about a product but also about user experiences with the product. How it "should be" is entirely your opinion and when last I looked this site wasn't Wh33tLab.
Wh33t
Lol. If it were Wh33tlab, it would be arranged much differently. Anyways, I've decided not to get the Lumenlab projector. Thanks for at least responding to my forum posts.

I had thought that a forum labelled as information about the eVo projector wasn't something that you needed to "look for"

Anyway, have fun with your projector purchase with it's short life, expensive lamps. smile.gif (I do believe that there's a place for these commercial projectors, and that there are valid reasons to buy one.)

You do have some valid suggestions, there SHOULD be pictures of the remote, and information about the menu on the site. Keep in mind though that LumenLab's roots are in DIY projectors, which are aimed at people who like doing things for themselves.

Oh, and also, the people who have been responding to you are not running LumenLab. They are people who are customers, or just tinterested people. Again, you would have got a much better response if you'd gone to the area devoted to the projector that you're interested in, but even then it would liklely be from customers, or people who are just interested. Though I am a forum moderator, I have nothing to do with the running of the site outside of these forums, nor am I paid by LumenLab.

The EVO forum doesn't show to visitors, you have to login. A new person may not notice this new forum after they log in. A visitor who strictly looks at the store may not get enough information especially when you compare the detailed specs provided by many varied commercial seller/reseller sites.

Information posted by members about the EVO may not always be accurate or represent the product fairly. We've all seen the reviews on a product where one user swears that it's the greatest thing he's ever owned while another says it's junk and will never buy from that company again. Someone could post horrible pictures without context. What was the signal source, ambient lighting, computer or pj settings, screen size, screen type, camera settings, etc... Discussions in member forums are opinions and when properly weighed they can be helpful but they do not necessarily represent the official LL position on its products. It is always preferable that the seller provide as much official information about a product as possible.

Very good points gumshoe.

Forums = Good for communication.

But the communication is about as reliable as the info on the walls of a public bathroom.

If you're a moderator you should seriously consider advising the webmasters that their projectors main website is seriously lacking in information. I understand it's an enthusiast style/type product but people still want to see all of the pieces it comes with. And all of the material to provide a really good feel about the product isn't hard to come by. It's easy to get video on to the web, and it's even easier to get photos.

I'm not trying to be a pest either. If you notice my initial post was very kind and very productive. I was offering real advice that would have helped me instantly buy one of these. That's not the kind of information that is offered to the owner of stores every day. Imagine how easy business would be if every customer who didn't buy something told you exactly why they didn't buy anything? That's what I offered and I was kind of shocked at the return I received.

The projector I'm trying to buy isn't for me. It's for the company I work for. I asked the boss to give me an extra day to check out the Lumenlab projector and because I couldn't easily find info about the product, we chose something else. Hopefully an owner of Lumenlab might actually see this post. I bet it's a great product.

What makes you an expert on communication? I found the people in the forums here has VERY reliable information! That was really a rude statement about being AS RELIABLE as a public restroom!
The people on here take time out of their lives to try to help people like you for no pay, nothing but to try to help out fellow enthusiasts!
Perhaps this kind of community isn't for you!

That's somewhat true, but you are overgeneralizing. Most of the info you get on these forums is very accurate. Especially from senior members. That said, I do agree that you do have some very good suggestions. And you are, of course, always welcome to contribute to this great community. smile.gif

And Wulff, chill buddy. All is well. smile.gif I don't think he meant to be offensive, particularly if you read the rest of his post. wink.gif

Most of us probably link to the forum directly so miss the changes being made by LL administration.

This topic may be moot.

Check out the main site link.

Lumenlab Main Page

Just click on the pic.

All the links aren't active yet but I found some screenies, a pdf of the manual and lots of other info. So even as this topic is being discussed LL was already moving forward and addressing this issue.

All is well in LL land. smile.gif
