hey everyone,
Been depaiting for awhile what i want to do so i'll give ya a list of what i'm thinking and maybe you can help me decide on what to get:
First would be the Evo
Second would be a Optoma EP716 DLP projector
Third would be a Scott 32" LCD TV

All are within $20 of each other so price is not a problem. The EP716 is on clearance at Best Buy so I should be able to get the extended warrenty to get one free bulb out of it. just trying to weigh out the options.

thanks
mike

OK in IMHO I think if the price difference is not the issue then go with the Optoma. Nothing will beat the image from such a bright projector that is already set up for HD and will most likey have better scaling then on the EVO. And although the EVO is very attractively priced, there do seem to be some issues with it and it is no where near the brightness of the Optoma (though of ocurse the issue of less expensive lamps is in its favor). The Scott LCD will probably give you a terrific picture... but it will only be 32" and that is not anywhere near 7' 8', 9', or even a 10' screen - you would constantly feel like you did not really get a home theater! So I see it as between the EVO and the Optoma and I would go with the Optoma especially if you could squeeze an addition bulb with the extended warranty.

It also depends upon your viewing conditions. Any projection will suffer from "blacks" that aren't "black" if there's lots of ambient light. If you watch TV/movies with the lights on then maybe the Scott is the way to go, even if it is smaller.

Of course, no self-respecting home theater would ever have viewing with the lights "up". smile.gif

Well just like AP said I have a 37" LCD and a projector 400 watt metal halide so it bright. If all you will use it for mostly day time viewing you will want a LCD, the projectors are nice but as for me we watch most stuff during daytime The projector for me is just a nightime kind of thing but to each there own

Ide have to say go with one of the projectors. I have a projector that i built in my room and i like it so much that i blacked out my windows with blankets just so i can use it during the day. It is a huge improvement over my 13" CRT.

I think blacking out the windows with blankets is better than watching a 13" TV also! laugh.gif
