So I bought a extra 311 Receiver off ebay. I already had 3 tv's hooked up. And I am planning on putting a TV in the guarage. Well the receiver showed up today and its a 322 not a 311 like its suppose to be. And the 322 is a dual tuner receiver. Has 2 sat. inputs. So I hooked it up with 1 input and it Did not work.
If there is anyone who has any idea of how I can get this thing to work please let me know. I can not run a 5th wire. And this thing does not seem to work with only 1 wire. Any suggestions would be GREAT !
Thanks Eric,

It is used to run 2 televisions in different rooms.
Maybe you could swap it out with 2 of the 311's?
The only way to only have 1 coax coming in is to used dish pro plus lnbf's.

Ya I understand what its made for. But hooking two TV's up to it just aint a option. I was just hoping I could hook 1 coax into it and just run 1 Tuner. but it seems as though that is not a option.

Only if you use a dish pro plus lnb

not sure what that is. I think I have a 1000 dish and then 3 wires to a big switch that feeds 4 wires to the diffrent boxes.
Ok you are talking about the little thing on the sat. Not sure which mine has. It has 3 things that all look seperate.

That switch is a switchbox. You can add another one. Then run a set of wires from the first switchboxs outputs to the second ones inputs and then you'll have 3 more outputs.
Buy a 2nd switchbox off Ebay, it will be cheaper than DishNetwork.

have you gone into the menu and shut off the second sat input? it is possible to run only one sat input on sat 1. even if you dont shut it off you can still run just one input. the other tuner just wouldnt work. and you have to make sure which lnb you have. dish or dish pro. they do not interchange. also was this an activated unit? if so you will need to call dish and have them reactivate the unit. you can even get them to transfer you to tech support. try this number for activation, 888-233-3474 this may be your whole problem. another thing in the menu is what channel the unit is going to output on 3(vhf) I have the 322 manual somewhere. its been a while since I last did a dish net install.

That works on the 322?
On the 921 and 622 I have, they won't work unless both inputs are hooked up.

Thanks for the advise guys. I will look into it. I have it displaying on channel 3. It finds the sat. if i hooked it up on input 2 instread of one. for some reason it does not find sat. signal if i plug it into one. And when I have it on two it sits at acquire sat signal forever. I could not find where to turn off input two in setup.
So If I bought a nother switch I could take my 4th wire from my orignal Switch and hook it up and have two wires to send to this box? having 5 wires then?

I personally don't have a 322.
But I have talked to some people that know them.
And I know from other receivers, you probably need to run a switch test from the installation menu.
After that it will detect your switches and should have a signal.
Let me know if that doesn't work.

Well you would have a total of 6 or 7 outputs you could use.
And like greeneyed said you need to go into the installation menu and run a switch test and then it will acquire the signal and download the program guide.

So I tried hooking to two wires to the box. Wires 3-4 from the DP34 Switch and it gets signal. and then aquires satalite but sits at getting information for hours. Now would this because the unit is not active?

Have you called dishnetwork and activated the unit?
Have you run a switch test?
