I'm about to buy a realtek controller and just wanted to check on a few last minute things:

1. There is no HDCP in this controller. I dont think this concerns me as this is for gaming only. Is that correct?
2. 1080p is fully supported over component through XBOX360, however I am a bit shady on the PS3. Does this controller not work at all on the PS3 or is that through 1080p only?
3. The max resolution I can get out of my computer will be 720p because that is max of VGA. Correct?

Thanks gang, and I apologize if this is all answered, which I'm sure it is. I've been searching for about 2 hours and this is what I have so far...

If you don't want HDCP then you don't need it.

Can't help ya there off the top of my overfull head; however, I have little doubt you'll be able to hook up a gaming console to that rig.

VGA? Surely you don't mean VGA? Check this.

If you want to use the PS3 with an HDMI connection the PS3 does have HDCP.

I meant VGA as in the VGA connection that connects my PC to my projector.

I've done 1920x1200 and 1600x1200 from my PC, both work great. You won't be able to send 1920x1080 from your PC because the controller doesnt support 1080 through VGA.

My bad. I was thinking resolution specific and not generic connector terminology due to you mentioning 720p in the same sentence. My fingers type a lot without direct control and overview by my brain. smile.gif

No problem. I had assumed I was just very wrong about something again.

the only thing i have to go buy is Jon's 15.4 fyi thread where it states 720p max through VGA. I'll assume thats correct.

Crap these stupid resolution standards get me into more trouble.

There are different types of signals that can be sent through VGA. HD video signals and standard pc resolutions. HD video signals are 480p, 720p, 1080i , and 1080p. The Realtek controller will only accept a max HD video signal of 720p through VGA. But it will accept standard pc resolutions of over 1920x1200.
