PLEASE NO BAD COMMENTS ABOUT MY PAIT JOB smile.gif, LOOKS SLOPPY RIGHT? LET ME TELL YOU IT WOULD ME MUCH BETTER IF IT WAS NOT FOR MY SUPER. THEY WANTED TO EVICT ME FROM MY APARTMENT IF I DID NOT STOP PAINTING (ONLY 3 COATS). THE REST YOU CAN SEE FOR YOURSELF (I GOT REALLY ANGRY). SO THAT IS WHY IT LOOKS SLOPPY.

....everything looks good, but can't align fresnels (unsplit design). Any sugdestions welcome.....

snap some pics of the inside, maybe someone here can write you up a how-to!
greeneyed
how far apart do you have them?
You will need some space between them.
I am unsure about the accepted distance as I went unsplit.
But I have read that you will need at least 10 mm(though more is better) between them.
wyldesyde007
got to be a little more descriptive as to what problem you are experiencing before anyone can offer sound advice ;-)

Ok, Thank you everyone. My fresnels are very close, groove to groove, yes it is very difficult to align them this way but it worth it (they don't have to be at least 10mm apart, take a look a fresnels in the overhead projector, two parts of the fresnels are fused center to center). I figured out the problem, it was deffective mirror. But now somenting else came up, a small dark spot in the middle (just cecked the panel is not overheating). What might be the problem?

The small dark spot is the Lcd starting to overheat. It always starts in the middle.

Yes you can put fresnels close together but you will be able to see the fresnel rings in the projection on a white screen.

NO THERE ARE NO RINGS ON PROJECTION, AND IT IS NOT OVERHEATING OF THE LCD (AT FIRST A THOUGHT SO TOO).

Is it just a slightly darker spot. Like a brown spot?

If so I have had fresnels with a dark spot in the middle from manufacturing. and when you put 2 close together if they both have them it might be a bit bigger and darker.

And I have done 6 builds now and have yet to be able to put 2 fresnels close together and not see rings.
It's not a matter of how well they are aligned , it's a matter of optics.

Even the 3 commercial projectors I have with fused fresnels have fresnel rings.

If you don't have any rings I'd sure like to know how you managed that smile.gif

You are %100 right, before I started to build this projector I had an LCD panel panel on top of Overhead projector (worked for me) and there were rings when you would focus the projector. On this new projector when you fous it there are no FRESNEL RINGS I'm going to look ito it in more detail, as I said fresnels are DEAD CENTER TO CENTER AND GROOVE TO GROOVE NO SPACE, it took me 4 hours only to align them. Also I cut them 2 at the same time (first align them then clamp them and cut, use the vacuum to remove small debris). I just fired up projector moved the lamp and guess what? That center dark spot moves whenever you change position of the lamp. My guess it is Lamp's Arc or something (Phillips Retro white 400w), anyway we will see.

What fresnels are you using. And where did you buy them.

Also did you see my post about the lamp wire? Also if the lamp has a bubble in it where they formed the glass that sometimes casts a shadow.

I bought them from my own supplier (China of course), and yes the lamp has bubbles, but I think it is the shadow of thw arc that I see

Adding a good reflector would probably get rid of the dark spot then.

Thank you for the advice, I will make reflector base swivel (just like my LCD) very easy to adjust.

you really need to show off the entire projector. looks like you did a good job finishing putting it together. what was wrong with the mirror? you should also show how you did the inputs and buttons. looks good. any screen shots yet?

TESCORP how are you? You were the first person I emailed whole bunch of pictures, didn't you get it?
Nan Null
It's amazing that you manage to line up the fresnels that no lines are shown on the white screen. I lined them up well, but at the end, I got some lines, and move them apart last night get rid of them. Without reflector, your pictures look pretty good.

I hope you resolve your black spot soon. It seems to be very mysterious to me. If you take out the LCD, is there a black spot on the white screen? You mentioned you move the lamp, and the black spot move. That could be anything I think, because the light source move, pictures/black spot sure move along with it. I am no expert in this though.

I wonder where you got the Phillips Retro White. Also, anyone know if the LL eballast works with this lamp?

Is it instant cold and hot restart? If so, that would be amazing. This light is also smaller than the LL, isn't it? If so, it would be good to work on 10.6" projector. Even the same size, if it's arc is in the middle, then it would not need larger box.

If the eballast doesn't work, what type of ballast/where to buy for the one that works?

Thanks.
TESCORP
I got the email but I couldnt open them for some reason. its so weird, one of my accounts sends me work orders over email and it clips off the right side of the email. one of these days I will have a computer that works with every application. have you tried moving the reflector closer or farther from the bulb? have you tried moving the bulb?

If I could visit you I would set up your computer properly, I set up my computer so it can't be infected by viruses or spyware (it is not an antivirus), and the drive does not have to be defragmented. It has been 3 years since I installed applications and it still as fast as it was the first day.
TESCORP
I constatly do virus sweeps, and defrags. I would love to know what you did to yours. I hardly use any of the space in here for fear of a crash which seems to happen every year or so. I back up constantly too. I have a drive I have to try to retrive pics of past builds from the last time the computer crashed. I learned from the last crash to make copies of everything important and print it to paper. paper wont crash! takes alot of space and files but paper will never crash.

I searched and found these:

Buy at:

http://www.hhydro.com/cgi-bin/hhydro/HH00626.html

Spec:

http://www.lamptech.co.uk/Spec%20Sheets/Philips%20CDM400.htm

However, I noted that the color temperature is 4057K which is not 65K. Also, the light is vertical, not horizontal. The size is about the same as LL (which is good for me to upgrade, but not for smaller projector).

Would you mind digging up where you found your bulb? Thanks.
