First there are no "true" 2000:1 contrast panels. This is dynamic contrast or contrast ratios with different backlights , etc.

About the highest "true" contrast ratio is 700:1 and yes it will look better than 350:1 sometimes. Because every panel is different and will project differently. Some 400:1 panels will look better than some 770:1 panels.

Specs don't tell the whole story.

That would be a highly subjective matter of opinion.

I doubt anyone here has used more than 2 or so different monitors , so how would they know ? smile.gif

It depends. Do you want a small box. If so you should look at the 10.6" 720p kits from Johnzo1995.

Do you want 1080p. If so you need to look at the 15.4" kits.

Do you want 15.4" 720p. then look at the 15.4" widescreen 1280x800 panels.

Do you want a standard 17"? The Samsungs should strip fine.

There is a LOT more to it than "What is the best monitor" smile.gif

I agree with jonjandran, there is no best monitor, but in my opinion there is one lcd that is the easiest to work with. Its the ps-one screen. Its low resolution but it only has one ffc on one side, the others are encased in the glass, it strips easy and is easy to modify, and to top it all off is next to imposible to break (unless you drop it or something.) The ag also come off extremely easily. The only drawback is that it is only 320x240.
