I'm looking to find a simple solution to transfer my old VHS tapes to DVD to preserve their video quality. I've been looking at USB video capture devices but I don't really know too much about them. anyone have any experience with them or have an idea for a different solution? oh, and it's gotta run on osx. thanks

We are going to be starting on a project to do the same thing soon and we are planing on useing a dvd player/recorder that i just bought to simplify things. Just record direct to dvd.

yeah a combo is prolly gunna be your easist bet, although they make a device that walmrt sells for like 50 bucks i forgot the name

i'd suggest a vcr/dvd recorder combo as well.

Yes the combo standalone is the way to go now if you are trying to duplicate copyright material "backup" then it gets tricky but I think you are just duplicating family videos
