Well, I was excited to get my name up in lights for starters, so here we go...
I received my order from Brain today...
Ushio Lamp
Lamp Socket
Standard Lens Kit
UV Filter
80x110 Screen material
Waiting on my LiquidVideo 15" A150X1-T02 from JustDeals
Ballast and Norpro from Lighting Unlimited
Planning on a nice grade of 1/2" Birch Ply...At the moment, my design is very similar to Troopers... lift off top, hardwood edging, etc...
I have a new idea for the focusing mechanism... tube within a tube...
I'll probably pick up my ply tomorrow at lowes...
"The Rock" Ballast will be replaced as soon as Brain gets the new Electronics ones in...
Will post pics once I get cutting...

Heading out now to pick up the wood and hardware.
I also just purchased a Yamaha RX-V750 HT Receiver...
Still need some nice speakers though...

What a great receiver. Ever since we got these in our store, I've been blown away by the ammount of features added over last year's version. Yamaha has been making killer amp sections for years now, and now they're backing them up with a great featureset. Kudos to you on a great receiver purchase!

Thanks Embries...can't wait until it gets here...
Box has a bottom, sides, and back panel all cut up, screwed, and ready to go...Ballast showed up tonight... another run to Home Depot in the AM...Need switches, wiring, fuse holder, fan(s)...Reflector...don't know when I'll get the NorPro I ordered... worst case I'll plan for it, and run it without for the time being...

I used silicone to attach the LCD to the metal frame...
After these pics I cut out my fan hole, receptacle hole, and switch opening.
I've drawn out the lines on the bottom of the box for lens/lcd placement.
Still need to make the front panel for the box and the top...
Once I'm happy with it, I'm going to cut some Pine trim and frame the whole
box in it...this should keep it from looking so plain, and cover up where the
screws are...
more pics tomorrow night... I hope!

Looking good Ron. I have to wait until next weekend to finish mine. Wiring looks good. Those wire terminals help a lot!

i checked my local home depot and they did not carry anything like that.

I got the LCD mounting blocks in, and am currently deciding which way to mount my rear fresnel... Think I'm going to Ace Hardware and see if I can find anything to use as a channel... I also hacked up the front of the LiquidVideo housing to rob the control panel.

Too lazy, tired and feet hurting to take new pics...
Inside of the box has been painted black, front panel has been fitted, but I made a miscalculation in the length of the base, and need to now cut a rabbet in the bottom of the front panel so it'll seat flush with the sides.
All of the lighting system components are installed and wired up...tested them just to be sure...bulb fired right up. Finally figured out the way I wanted to mount my rear fresnel, Got my focus box cut out and glued up. it's 7" outside, made with 5/8" pine like the rest of the box, which gives an inside diameter of 5.750"
The box is 4"deep, with the front piece that the lens is to be mounted in recessed 5/8" back from the front of it... doesn't look like there should be any issues with clipping...

Sep 21 2004, 11:02 PM
Image size is about 8ft here... it'll be about 11ft when I finally get it set up where I want it...
Here are a couple more pics...
I'll take more once I've got the trim on and am happy with it
I have not received my Norpro as of yet... soon as I do, I'll take some new pics...

Here's the completed PJ, minus the trim... Once the trim is on, I'd imagine it'll look something like a shipping crate...

Here's a small sample of the mess maker I am... All of the cutting and major construction was done in our mud room, which is 6ftx4ft... Too damn hot in the garage...the rest was assembled on the kitchen table...

Although I think these pics do the image pretty good justice, the image is a bit sharper in person... The image IS a bit on the dark side at the moment, as I'm still waiting on my Norpro, although it DID ship on monday...

question about how u mounted ur lcd. Did u built a frame around ur lcd, or did u built a slot for the lcd to slide into the box?
AZ_Ron
Oct 5 2004, 11:47 PM
Hi Saturn... I actually glued to pieces of pine to the inside of the box where the LCD needed to be, then once I figured the height the LCD needed to be at, raised it up, and used 4 screws through the metal frame of the LiquidVideo LCD into the wood... very simple, and if I ever want/need to take it out, it'll be easy...
LCD is siliconed to the metal frame.

My image is about 11' diagonal and its dim as well... I have a bowl, but it has a flat bottom (its no help at all), I'm hoping to order a norpro this week that will help more... otherwise I may have to start rethinking my room arrangement.
