I'm finishing my basement with a theater, bathroom, bar, office, and laundry. The main reason I'm finishing it is to have a nice area for my diy projector, my wife refused to let me set it up in the main level. This is going to be much better anyway and much more man room ish. Lots of speakers, computers, projectors and spirits. It had to get worse before it got better. I installed plumbing for the bath and a drainage tile with a sump pump. I liked the idea of never having the chance of water ruining all of my hard work. It's a work in progress but its getting there.

Thanks j3yq, good luck on your future build. Here are some more photos.

This will be my equipment rack, free from dad.

The local wildlife seems to be interested in my build.

Thanks NinHowFritz. They got in through a wide open door when I was letting out my dog. I busted three of them rummaging through trash in my garage. ph34r.gif It was really quite startling. My natural reaction was to yell at them. Two of them ran out the door and this one climbed into my attic. It took about 15 min. of pushing at this one with a broom to get it out the door. I rather enjoyed it.

Here are some photos of recent progress. I've finished mudding. Next I need to put the ceiling in, paint, put tile and carpet in and trim the floor and ceiling. For the ceiling I plan to replace the existing acoustic tiles with drywall. I'll just cut the drywall into the same size of the old tiles and drop them in. Then paint the whole ceiling with regular old flat white paint.
I can't decide if I'll make a room divider for the bar area and theater area or not. I was thinking about a 4" wall hanging from the ceiling between them. I'm interested in suggestions. This divider would probably be useful because the ceiling in the theater area needs to be acoustically treated. I'm thinking large panels of 2 1/2" egg crate covered with fabric.

As you can see I have a little help.

I've made some progress. Here are some more photos. Some of the ceiling is up and everything is painted. I am starting on the tile. Next I'll finish the electrical and trim. Then I can get back to some movies. laugh.gif

This will be my office.

This is the main bar and media area. The red stufff is for cracks in the concrete. It supposedly keeps the tile on top from cracking.

From the other side.

My Projector.
17inch BenQ LCD
Beseler lens
220/550 unsplit fresnel
400 watt Coralvue bulb with old Lumenlab e-ballast

If anyone is planning this kind of project, look into getting a self leveling laser level such as this one. I saved lots of time with this thing.

It's accurate to 1/4" within 100'. It shoots horizontal and vertical lines. It can be used for everything from plumbing walls (sure beats a plumb bob) to, well leveling anything quickly and accurately. Look on eBay, way cheaper there.

Been a while since Ive posted but still making progress. Currently my PJ is on the floor, I'm going to start another build soon to make er a ceiling mounted straight shooter. It will probably be Haas like with either the pro lens, the 18" EFL lens and a 15.4" HDTV. Here are some pics.

Good luck on your builds.

That is nice looking. Those speakers DIY? Also, that is a massive projector.

Thanx, good work on cleaning that room. Its an inspiration that something that far gone can be fixed. laugh.gif I built the speakers. The towers and center channel (sitting on the left tower just for now) have peerless drivers and a crossover designed by Ed Frias. The drivers and crossovers were sold as a kit from Madisound.com. They are known as the Audio-Review.com speaker and are keepers for sure. The sub woofer use Dayton Titanic MKII subs and sound nice too. They came out with a MKIII since I built them, wonder if there much better? Yeah My PJ box is huge. It needs to go on a diet. Good work on your PJ's, nice and small. For the time being I'm going to work with a 15.4 element lcd tv. In the future, I'd like to get my hands on a 7" wxga panel. That would make a compact box.

Here are some more pics of my speakers and my huge PJ.
