Love to learn more abouth them. Got a few questions if you don't mind.
How much did it cost you for the whole set? What type/brand speakers did you use and how much is the RMS power??
and most important, how do they sound smile.gif ?? If they sound the way they look, they will blow you away probably!
Nice job wink.gif

I'm with Super Bob. I'm an audio fanatic. Everything I do/buy is geared towards audio. So whatcha got with those speakers?
purple pilz
Ok Ladies and Gents here we go
The brand of drivers used is Peerless
SUBWOOFER 10" XTRA-LONG-STROKE 8ohm
This is a new range from Peerless to suit the unlimited demands of bass hungry enthusiasts in home or automotive audio. Emphasis has been placed in design to achieve extremely deep bass, long time reliability, high power handling and very low distortion or compression under very large sound pressures. Double magnet. Cast iron frame. Gold 4mm binding posts.

Pwr 300Wrms
Coil 51mmØ
Mag 2.4Kg (1.04T) 147mmØ
Zo 53.3W (4.9W@115Hz)
Fs 18.9Hz
Sens’ 88.4dBm
Qms 2.63
Qes 0.18
Qts 0.17
Vas 80.2L

Plus

WOOFER 8" CAST ALLOY BASKET
Same high end features as the 850136 with the addition of a cast alloy aluminium basket to improve rigidity and power handling, etc. The design of the Peerless basket front allows for very slim box design and close stacking of drivers if desired. Sandwich cone technology with high exertion surround and spider gives low harmonics and distortion.

Pwr 150Wrms (20Hz-5KHz)
Coil 33mmØ
Mag 0.8Kg (1T) 102mmØ
Zo 63.6592W (5.74ohmdc)
Fs 30.8605Hz
Sens’ 90.5dBm
Qms 2.8578
Qes 0.2832
Qts 0.2577
Vas 70.9869L

plus

2 x PASSIVE RADIATOR 10" XTRA-LONG-STROKE
Identical speaker to the 10" XLS drivers (left) but without a magnet and the voice coil has been replaced with a weight. You can fine tune this mass by adding weight to the M5 threaded hole enabling excellent control over the final design. Passive radiators replace the port by adding a mass equivalent to the volume of air in a 10" tube. This eliminates air velocity noises and enables very low tuning F without ridiculously long or narrow port dimensions. Suit small enclosures. Suit home theater/audio.
Fs 11.2Hz
Qms 14
Vas 80L
Cms 0.508mm/N
Rms 2Kg/s
Mms 400g
Sd 333cm²
Xmax 22mm

That is on the sub only

For the rest of the set we have 2 fronts 2 rears and one Center
We will start with the center

4 X WOOFER/MID 5" MAGNETICALLY SHIELDED WES Exclusive!
Same as the 850488 but magnetically shielded for near TV applications. Suitable for a wide range of situations including center or small bookshelf boxes as well as multiple alignment floor standing systems. The five layer sandwich cone improves accuracy and consistency of sound reproduction over the entire frequency range creating a more musical sound

Pwr 110Wmax (20Hz-5KHz)
Coil 26mmØ
Mag 81mmØ
Zo 31.9631W (5.64ohmdc)
Fs 55.4487Hz
Sens’ 86.82dB
Qms 2.1117
Qes 0.4525
Qts 0.3726
Vas 8.3076L

Plus

1 X TWEETER 1"/80mmØ
Same high end fabric dome material as the other Peerless tweeters. Non ferrofluid model giving a slightly brighter response,
improves detail and micro dynamics. Recommended for use with smaller low power designs. Requires a high order crossover filter.
SSS “Recommend for 2 way bookshelf.”

sbockh01
What was your final cost to make the speakers?
rene156
$$$? how much, Very nice Speakers
Uneek
something tells me he doesn't want to reveal the price!! wink.gif
purple pilz
Sorry guys I was out for 2 days, now where where we?

ha yes, the cost of this system

It cost me $2250 complete every thing you see here, not a penny more, not a penny less.

To me i has been money well spend because the same sort of system in a sound shop would have been arround $3500 so I think I'm ahead here. Plus is the satisfaction of me saying to my peers "look guys, I made them myself".
Smalls
I absolutely love the finish on those boxes! Can you tell me exactly what you used?
mwatson125
wow... those speakers are amazing. your the man....
DR_BEV
sweet!

hey Brain!
I hope to see some PLOG's about speaker building in the near future! it's the next logical step! as i don't know squat about speakers.....

very nice!
anthony
What do you use to power the sub?
