I attempted to remove anti-glare from lcd with no luck. 27 hour rag soak with 1 to 3 parts acetone distilled water (respectively). It didn't want to peal at all. Any how I watched a movie since and had no issues. However tonight I have a vertical patch going through the screen about .5" wide. that has a pink tone to it. It is like the contrast is heavier in that one section. I could use some input and a fix if anyone knows whats going on.

TIA

you might want to check your ffc cable connections. a loose cable can cause lines on the screen. hopefully thats all it is.

No FCC's per say only lvds it is a 15.4 panel. I've plugged and re plugged my lvds et the lcd. I wiggled the control board on the lcd with no results. Only thing I didn't try was un-plugging and re-plugging the lvds and osd boards at the controller. I think the little evil twins got in there. I had it open before I went to bed. It's just wierd. I still get a perfect picture. It just has a kind of a pink tint for that one stretch.

Is it all the way across the lcd in a rectangular area? I guess I am asking are you sure it's the pixels or could have some liquid gotten under the ag/polar? You say patch and stretch which leads to ambiguity.

It is a vertical column about .5" wide from the top of the screen all the way to the bottom.

Hm, sounds like an FFC problem(not practically fixable) or it could be the wire to the control board is not seated right. I got something like that on my 15" panel, and fixed it by re-plugging the controller in at the LCD board. However, my problem affected most/all of the screen area. Yous sounds more like a broken FFC.

Nin....If it was a broken connection wouldn't the vertical band be blank of a picture?

On a side note I see you are going to school in Fredonia. I grew up in Rochester. My eldest daughter just moved back up there to fo to FLCC

Each color is controlled separately, so if it is pink, it sounds like the green or blue control line ( or both ) is broken at the ffc on the bottom, right under that stripe. Sounds like just the red strobe line is working. If so, the LCD is toast, I am sorry to say.

Some LCDs are more durable than others. I had an unusable LCD that I actively tried to damage by pulling bending and twisting the FFCs and it took some severe treatment to break that samsung panel. One the other hand, I have seen some LCDs break ffcs while still in their metal frame ( unstripped ). I suspect that every single LCD is different.

I'll snap a photo tonight after work. I have narrowes it down to the lcd or controller. I'm hoping it's the controller. I still have a warranty on that. It's ot totally pink I get a picture just has a pink tint to it , almost like the pxels are stuck on. I haven't seen or heard of this issue before.

On the ffcs that connect the Lcd to the controller board under the Lcd , there should be an ffc just under the area that is giving you problems. Try putting pressure on that area, holding the ffc down on the controller board. See if that helps.

If it does then you can fashion a clamp to hold it and then hot glue the clamp down and it should be fine.

Yes, it is strange sounding. Not just white to red. but you seem to be saying that it is like the Green and Blue shannels are just suppressed, but not totally dead in just a rect. Does the rect seem to be isolated to just one FFC area? Like the lcd I am working on right now has 4 FFCs up the side and 12 across the bottom. Does the rect seem to be isolated to 1/12 th or 1/4 of the area?

Quick update.... Jonjandran I was hoping you would chime in. The first thing I did was play with the FFC. Tried massaging the area. Checked all the connections(hot glued all the FCC's first thing when I got the panel last year). Hooked up the controller to my computer to verify it wasn't my DVD player. Tried composite, dvi and S-video.
On a happier note. Since I had it apart yet again I figured out my brown corners are caused by my pre-con being too far from my bulb. I am down to just a slight bit in the bottom left corner that is still brown.
Pics of the screen have to wait till tomorrow evening. I need to charge a set of batteries for the camera.

Ps. I am leaning more towards something being wrong with the controller. To me it looks like the contrast is screwy in the vertical section. Altough I can see a slight shimmer init when I look directly at the lcd when it is running.

Redherring...The edge of the "section" start just to the left of the 7th ribbon and goes to about the middle of it. There are 12 ribbons across the top, and 5 on the side.

I watched a few movies. I had to order a new sharp panel. It was a crime to see a big blue line going through Jesica Alba's tail. dry.gif

Well my new sharp is running right now and looks great. I need to take the reflective layer off this weekend.
