I want a screen i can hide, since my TV, and other home theater equipment will be right behind where i want the screen.

it's either make a motorized screen, or make a rigid screen that will hinge up to the ceiling, which would leave cables and pulleys all around my living room..

has anyone seen this?

thanks

There are plenty examples of diy rollup screens here.
Search around a bit.

I just got my screen material today.
And plan on starting just such a project.
I'm leaning toward using an electric screwdriver for the drive system. Should be plenty of torque to drive the screen up and down, and it should be reasonable compact.

I have a small 12V motor at work, and a power suppy, and i even have a PWM to control the speed.

i may have to gear it, but it does 40 or 50 inch pounds i guess

Verboten1, have you seen Samurijack's floating screen? It ataches to a pice of wood that you put behind your tv so you can put it up at any time.

Links here and here (see post #1063. He added a space blancket behing the screen and noted an improvemnet.)

My TV will be sitting in front of a bay window that is the width of the whole room, thats one reason this whole project is so limited on options
