I went to buy somethings at Home Depot the other day and on the list my wife had written down roll shades for kids bedroom?? I didnt really know so I found the blinds section and a very freindly young gal helped me out showed me what they were how they worked and how to hang them. I said sounds good made my purchase and was on my way home. I just finished putting one up WOW they are pretty neat spring loaded and you can get a pretty good size (widescreen even) So all you Lumers out there what do you think anybody try this or thought of it. It would make a great easy portable screen. If my projector was not so big and heavy I would try it out to show what i came up with. Lets hear what others have to say. Oh yeah the stuff I got was like 26 bucks or so and it was BIG I had to have them cut it down.

I suspect you will find that the less expensive blinds have too much sheen and they don't lay flat. The more expensive ones would be better but you can buy a cheap screen for the same price.

By all means we should look at everything that way. The best solution will come from the most unlikely places. Just take a look at Poly-wall. Who would have thought plastic shower stall wall material would make a good screen.

I did not mean to discourage you. Are you in a position to hold it up in front of your projector?

is this what people are reffering to as Black out -cloth? in that case you have nailed it, people has been using this material as a DIY screen for ages and it works great =) - how fine is the surface (weave) on yours?

No this is not black out cloth but I have never seen black out cloth it could be similar but if everybody is have great success with the blackout cloth you could take one of these and and take the old out and but the black out cloth in its place so that you could have a pull down and up screen smile.gif its a rubbery kind of material and stinks when first pulled down as far as the weave everybody talks about I have no idea.

Tiddler--I've actually used the cloth-type shower curtains to pretty good results as well. Get a black one, add a little bit of white paint (4 or 5 coats to get a nice, bright, even coat), and you're good to go for about ten bucks.
