Hello all, I have a 15" I built for a test bed that I love, I was planning on upgrading to a 15.4" 1080p panel, but have been really intrigued by the 10.6. My problem is, I would like to use my current set up and only replace the lcd. Right now I have the standard lense kit and the 400w t15 from lumenlab. My concern is the 400w lamp. It seems to me it is going to be to dim with roughly half the light(based on area of lcd) hitting teh screen. Is there anything I can do to utilize the 400w light that I have now? Thanks alot

heh, I have the pro reflector, but no precon. Is there a precon i can get that will make me happy(ie as bright as my 15" with no precon) with the t15 and pro reflector?

Thanks for the help n1co35. I will try it, however the area of the 10.6 inch lcd is like half that of my 15". Therefore less light will be collected and make it to the projected screen

Add a precondenser lens to collect the light into a narrower beam.

I'm interested in building a 10.6 with the standard 400w T15 bulb. Are there any suggestinons for what precon to use?

im gonna try the surplus shed, I got 4 on the way, ill let you know how it works out. It is dim with the t15, but still very watchable... so you could get by without one, but I want it to be as bright as my 15 inch was.

Have you gotten a chance to play with any of the precons yet?

Yes, I recieved the surplus shed lenses, I simply held it in front of the lamp and it definetaly got brighter and covered the whole 10.6 I am in the process of building my new projector, and I am working on the lightbox right now as wife and baby permit. So all I really have is light box, assembly and painting... hopefully only 3 or 4 more hours, which maybe I can knock out tonite.

When you get the design done, could you please share it? I'm building a 10.6 and my main setback is i can't decide on how i want to set up the light engine...do i want to go with 400watts with a precon, or do i want to try 150w or 250w, or even a 575w setup

well, I have run the surplus shed condensor for about 6 hours in two sessions. All I can say is WOW. It is definitely bright enough now, and contrast is better as well. I switched to split fresnels as well, and it is still like alot brighter. I was watching a movie in ambient light this morning and it looked really good. I can't however say it is brighter than a 250 watt... although I can't see how it wouldn't be, as I have my light cone right around the fresnel and almost all(mayne 2 mils each side) of the arc is filling the triplet

Which exacty precon did you use? You said you had bought multiple ones. I'd like to see some shots of your setup when you get a chance!

I only bought one kind of precon, just 4 of them incase i had multiple breakages while getting the cooling correct. It is the 4.5" by 6" one. The one that costs 6 bux

. Ill c if I can take some pics tonite.
