I got the set used for a 100 bucks the one is fine the other not so good as I stated before.

If I cant get this thing working I most likely will be making a small projector out of it should be easy as it flips down to put movies in and has standard audio video YRW connection so i could run a lot of stuff on it. Any help thanks.

If you have a dvd lens cleaner try that. Otherwise smack it while its on and show it who's boss. That always works for me with my ps2 (its almost 7 years old now, i have an early one). Then if all else fails, Take it appart, look for something wrong. If you cant see anything wrong put it back together. At this point it should work, if it doesnt, rip it appart for parts.

I know this is waaay late, but I have the same one and had the same problem. There is a recessed cutoff switch that is activated by a tab when the door is closed. I just cut a small piece of plastic and superglued it to the switch so the tab would create more travel when it contacted the switch. Just be careful not to get too much glue in the switch. I also had problems with the FFC coming loose and had to repair it.
