i really need a way to switch between 2 or more signals, like dvi and svideo, or dsub and svideo, something a can build or buy rather cheap... any ideas?

There are switching boxes called modulators (some sold at Radio Shack) and AB switches as well as ABC switches that will do the job. Try a Google search under modulators or signal switching devices etc. You will have to design your own cable routing depending on what signals you want to distribute. Hope this helps!

Can you provide more info?
Switch between what and to where?

Does the device you are trying to switch signals to have the inputs you need? If so, the device itself would have the ability to switch between inputs.

If you are referring to a device with a single input (say, DVI) but you need to be able to send it DVI, VGA, Svideo, etc, then you would use an external box to do so that has those inputs, and an output that matches your input to the device .

i need to go from any sources i have, svideo, dsub, rca, dvi, and i need it to switch to either a single dvi of dsub, i need the actual size(as it projects) to stay pretty much the same(i guess you call that scalling?) as in if the signal is regular rca i need it to scale up to the physical size of what ever i am working with... and then come out on one dsub or dvi
