HI there,

Is it possible to use a folded design like this one if your light source is an LED array ?

http://www.lumenlab.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=21089

I really like this design, are there any foreseeable downsides ?

Also is there anywhere that sells premade 10.6" PJ cases ?

Thanks

Since the 'fold' occurs after the LCD, or more specifically F2, the origins of the light are by and large irrelevant w.r.t. whether you can use a folded design or not. F2 will have already focussed the light towards the mirror/triplet.

A folded design is more complicated as you will need to align the mirror correctly, but allows you to save on space. Make sure you use a good quality front surface mirror so you get single reflection at the triplet to avoid ghosting.

I believe TESCORP will make a box that will house a 10.6 LCD. Take a look over in the Trade section for details. I have not used him, as I am in the UK, but there is a big thread where you can read peoples opinions etc.

I have an enclosure I'm willing to sell that I was using with a 10.6 panel, but it will require some additional work on your part to finish it off. The front of the lens box currently has a larger hole (to fit a 14" Beseler lens) but an adapter plate can be cut fairly easily for use with a standard triplet. Also, you will need to make a small enclosure for the input board to sit beneath the main box. I have already cut a slot for the wire. One or two additional tweaks may be needed. Send me a PM if you are interested and I can send some additional pics.

p.s. I am in Richmond, VA if, by any chance, that presents the possibility of a pick-up.
