I'm curious if anyone has come across a CNC which is set up for multiple toolings? Clearly many laser cutters, router CNCs, and more recently fabbers [

It seems like for a diy hobbist who is short on space and cash to make a single unit where you swap out tools for different applications while using the same base. I haven't found something like this yet in my searches and wonder if anyone knows if there is a precedent for this design or if this is something completely novel. If it is new I'll be even more motivated to pursue this further, if not I'm very interested to see how they did it.
