considering the limited resolution of the eVo I don't think you will notice much difference between DVD and HD content. On a 720p or above panel you can definately see the difference.

I have a Toshiba HD-DVD player and a samsung Blu-Ray player but I don't have an eVo, sorry.

Am I wrong that this has been asked before, there is a whole thread just like this.

Basically, yes there is a difference. When you have a high-res moving picture and a low-res display of it, the fact that it is a high-res signal is quite noticeable.

I haven't watched HD-DVD or Blu-ray, but the whole time I owned my eVo's, Prime-Time TV is in 720p or 1080i, so I am going to say that you can tell the difference.

Just in case you want to run an interesting experiment, go get a an IMAX DVD (plain, regular old DVD), the fact that it was shot with an 80mm (or whatever) super high-def film is glaringly obvious even on your normal TV.

I recommend SuperSpeedway, it was razor-sharp on my old RCA over S-Video. I believe that there is a WMV HD DVD version, I am not sure if there is an HD-DVD or blu-ray edition out yet.

Wait a month, let the new 7" wxga lcd come out in a group buy, then build one that looks nicer and uses a ceramic bulb. The evo is okay, but it's native resolution is 480p. If you know anything about dvd vs hd-dvd you'd know that dvd resolution is 480p--meaning that the only thing you'd be paying if you had a hd-dvd hooked up to an evo is a "stupid tax".
