I bought these two things recently,

The Controller: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...p;rd=1&rd=1

And this LCD: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...p;rd=1&rd=1

When I got the LCD, the connector is broken and it wont work. Tried resoldering it back on, but the screen is all crapped up, so its not going to work. The guy said he'd send another one, but then said is kid dropped it and broke it, and he doesnt have any more. Now I cant seem to find any more of the 12" x 8.5 Hitachi p/n TX34D74VC1CAA LCD's anywhere. The guy I bought the controller from apparently put the connector on for this particular model, and he says the board is "hard coded" for this model, and it wont work for anything else. Is this right?

In either case, I cant seem to find a single LCD anywhere thats going to work with this thing. So thanks to numbnuts and his broken LCD's, I'm out $80 on a controller thats worth crap nothing and wont work with anything else? Unless someone else happens to have another of these LCD's...... Help me out, I'm stuck, frustrated, and ready to throw away all the projector stuff as its turning out to be a waste of money.

The list of compatible panels is in the ebay listing.
But it could be programmed for a specific panel I suppose,
but I would start there.

here is one:

I hope this helps and try to get your money back from that broken LCD.

I gave $15 shipped for the panel I had, which would have been fine if the connector didnt break off. $145 buy it now on that one is way to steep really. Spending that much on the LCD, plus the controller, plus overhead projecter, and other stuff, its going to start getting close to the cost of the actual digital projectors anyways....

Looking for $40 or less really for the LCD panel, but still not sure if I want to proceed and waste any more money or not. When I did have the panel on the overhead working for a bit, it was extremely dark and hard to see in a totally dark room. The LCD panel itself just seemed extremely dark when its not on either, am I missing something?

So is there any other inexpensive panels anywhere that will work with this controller?

As someone already mentioned. There is a list of compatible panels on the ebay link where yo bought the controller. Using that list find a cheap compatible lcd from Ebay that will suit your needs.

Don't ask other people to do the work for you. It's called DoItYourself for a reason smile.gif

Most of the panels arent on ebay at all, then the ones that are on there are going for $150 for the panel.... Which is way out of of range of where I want to be, especially since the guy who I bought the controller from says my "board is hard coded" for that particular LCD. Does that mean it wont work with any others besides that model number I gave him? By the way, with the LCD screen being darker, is there anything to do about that?

My mistake.... Yea he has to program the bios for that particular Lcd. So you would have to send the board back to him to get it programmed for any other Lcd and get another Lvds cable that would work with a different panel.

Lcd's are dark because they have around 7 layers of film on them, the darkest being the front/rear polarizers. You can sometimes strip the Ag and Tac layers and get more transmissiveness but that is a risky "extreme" mod .
