Day 1 of my projector. Just got the lcd and stripped it in 30 minutes! Looks like "It's ALL GOOD"!! Idiot that sold me this Benq 547 was suppose to send a Benq 567sv2...what a loser. He moved to China from CA so I don't think I'll be bothering to send it back unless he says he'll pay shipping.

by october? you can get it done by then

shipping is always the longest delay...once the products come in the mail...it goes really fast. one piece of advice, get all your wiring done if you are still waiting on parts.

Cool! I hope it goes fast ufmatt!! I'm wishing I had it together today! hehe! I'm also wondering if the cables out the side should be easy to snip and extend? I'm thinking they should be...just makes me nervous to do it.

Dont go by my word ask brain but i believe those cables out the side are for you back light which you will remove anyway ??? and wont need to be extended!!!

Those are the backlight cables. You aren't done stripping yet, the backlight has to come off. Also the circuit board you have folded out flat is stressing the edge connectors, bad!

Ya, I know the backlight still needs to come off. It actually is just sitting on top of it and I plan to leave it that way till I have the box ready to put it in. Thanks for the reminder about the edge connectors

Careful with that bubblewrap... using an ESD pad and wrist band may be better choice for handling the LCD sensitive circuitry.
Here you can find some inexpensive ones.

Radioshack also has an ESD pad and armband for 24.99 regular price and you wouldn't have to pay shipping. Also, the pad itself is huge (don't let the tiny box fool you).
If not the pad and armwrist, use a piece of cotton, satin, or silk and buy a arm band from Radioshack ($5-$6 tops).

Are you saying thet the LCD you are using is a BenQ 547? If so could you add it to the compatable monitor list? Along with any specs you may have. From your pics it does't apear to have any FFC issues.

I started a new box because my original was crap...lots of light leaks, nothing centered properly, etc. Here's the current stage of my progress! It won't be too much longer and I'll have it running! Hopefully I'll be watching movies on the big screen again by this weekend. This time I'll post some results.

Thanks SACK. I hope it works as good as it looks

The old box was made crappy and the picture was still pretty decent so I'm expecting good results. I'm putting in the electronics tonight, finish up tomorrow, movies tomorrow night!

You can see my wall plug in all the pics and also in the top left corner you see where my glass was stamped and I tried to remove it. That part looks like crap, but I'll just have to order a new piece and remember to ask them to leave it off.

you can also move the temp. glass back towards the bulb to get it out of the FOV from the bulb to the fresnel.

Towards the bulb? Not sure what you mean. I could try moving it more to the side...that would get it out of the FOV a little more at least.

Some pics of Monsters Inc. I'll post some box pictures tomorrow. I do need to make a couple adjustments to the focus mechanism and add a muffler at the fan

I'm going to put some aluminum flashing in the box too.

I see what you mean. Thanks for the tip, but I don't think I have enough room in this Haas box to move it closer

It narrows too much.

sorry for the late chime in on your project. the shape of your box looks more stylish comparinging to the bulky square box. i'm quite late joining the wagon

hopefully i will have mine built soon.
cheers!

Finally someone else using the monitor I've ended up with.
Just wondering if I could trouble you with a few questions.
Firstly... when dismantling the LCD did you find that the circuit board connected to the LCD itself was "stuck" to the white plastic between it and the backlight? If so how did you remove that? Or is there a small screw I've missed (it's the only thing left connected... and it almost seems like it is just glued or something... that being the case... is it safe to pull it a bit harder to detach it?).
Secondly... my current setup is the OHP style (want to test this all first before scrounging for some more money to get Fresnels and specialist light etc)... just wondering if you can suggest a way that would work for supporting the circuitry while putting the LCD on the OHP (this may be resolved completely once I figure out how to detach that bit of circuitry from the white plastic... but any thoughts would be appreciated).
And finally... great job!!! It's very heartening to see I may finally have a panel that is compatible... and also able to produce a very nice image. Great work!
