Thought it might be fun to list some of the projects we started but never finished.

Here we go!

1 "Locost sports car" A lotus 7 replica as in the "build your own sports car for as little as 250 pounds." Only invested around $75 in square steel tube. Donated parts to work

2 "trimagnum" 3 wheel car built out of a motor bike. Only invested $100 in an old VW bug front axel, still sitting in my storage unit.

3 Teardrop trailer. Invested around $250. Heavy frame finished and given to friend of a neighbor as i was about to haul to the scrap yard. Still have axel wheels, springs, hitch and misc. bearings.

A few near misses!

4 Carbon fiber bike frame. Only boght the book

5 Hovercraft, Only bought the plans

6 Wood folding kayak, Two pieces of ply. Rotted in back yard.

Okay, so what do you have in your closet? biggrin.gif

Finishing writing your to-do list, on your to-do list. Now that takes some skill smile.gif

I applied to take a self-assertiveness course, but they talked me out of it.

Let's see...

Incomplete projects:

LumenLab Video Projector - in progress! acquired all materials and parts.

New Living Room addition. Plans designed.

Drip irrigation system in back yard. Installed 90% when our Big Red DAWG decided he liked the flavor of vinyl hose. After one week, $450 worth of drip irrigation stuff was ruined. Not one piece was left un-punctured or unchewed, (the mainline was chewed into pieces about 2 feet long...) not to mention the holes he dug in our garden to get at the tasty tidbits. 15 years later the backyard has STILL not recovered from the depredations of Clifford.

Compressed Air Calliope - bought conduit for pipes, cut to length, built case. Finally threw everything away when we moved.

30" Band Saw - bought plans - bought commercial band saw.

Restoration of "Irving" a 24 inch swing, 12 foot bed, gear head metal lathe. (Bought it surplus for $625 got it running and succumbed to a manufacturer waving a $5000 cashier's check under my nose! Darn it. It cracked my garage floor... it took three neighbors to lift the three-jaw chuck into place.)

Redwood Deck around Above ground swimming pool. Planned, got permits... pool burst sides and was junked. (Best thing that ever happened to us! Saved us at least $150 a month in chemicals, pump costs, etc., not to mention over a $1000 in redwood for the deck!)

Oak Roll Top Computer Desk - bought the wood. Most of it is still piled in the workshop. Some will be used on PJ.

G guage Garden Railroad - 350 feet of Stainless Steel track still in boxes on the patio. This WILL be done.

Geodesic Dome warehouse for Food Bank... designed, built concept model, got funding, got pissed off at Board of Directors and walked away after 18 years involvement.

Master Bathroom - going on one year with no wallpaper, putting up with just stripped walls and half pulled carpet. To be completed in 1 month... by a contractor!

Hunny Do list from Mrs. Swordmaker that only grows.

Honorable Mention projects:

Kitchen Remodel - 10 years with no doors on cabinets. Finally finished.

Completed projects:

Spinning wheel for a friend.

Geodesic Dome over Parent's swimming pool (Thanks Bucky!)

Case for Great Organ for Church Pipe Organ - built credance table for altar area from scraps left over.

Front Bathroom remodel

Conversion of two-car garage to Game Room and workshop.

Oak Pool Table with 1" slate and Leather Pockets - won Golden Hammer award from Mechanix Illustrated Magazine, July 1978. (the one-piece slate took SIX neighbors to lift into place!)

The Rattlesnake - Wooden Ship Model, built from keel up, 1:48 scale, museum grade. 3 years of evenings.

The Santa Maria - Wooden Ship Model, Built from keel up, 1:24 scale, Museum quality. 1 year of evenings.

Food Bank Warehouse and offices. 60 X 100 feet. (President of the Board, acted as contractor)

Remodel of Food Bank offices.

50 foot by 100 foot by 8" steel reinforced concrete slab to support 12,000 pound forklifts at Food Bank. (Running a back-hoe is FUN... for a while.)

At this time, I have NO unfinished projects, but here's a list of projects long abandoned:

- 1983 Jaguar XJS V8 Conversion Resto (Most recent, sold it to buy parts for my Lumenlab PJ, actually BUILT the pj though! biggrin.gif )

The rest were years ago:

- 1965 Manx-clone Dune Buggy Resto (abandoned 1/2 way through and traded for motorcycle)

- 1984 Toyota Celica Resto (abandoned after engine was completed, sold to my brother, who completed it and drove it until he wrecked it...)

- 1974 Mustang II Resto (abandoned after engine was completed)

- DIY Odysey (sp?) Clone (tube frame w/1000cc motorcycle motor. never got beyond the design/parts collecting stage stage...)

- Sturdy Birdy RC Airplane (abandoned 1/4 way through)

- Mini Indy (DIY Indy500-style go cart) (bought plans, never built)

- DIY Bunkbed-top/Desk-bottom Combo (built, but it wasn't sturdy, and I tore it down before it could FALL down...)

I'm sure there's more, but I can't think of them right now...

Close, but I did finish a few projects:

- 1973 Camaro Partial Resto (This was my daily driver for 6 years, it went through various stages, up and down, 2 different motors, four different stereo systems, four different wheel/tire combos, new upholstery/carpet/guages, etc)

- 1987 S-10 Pickup Resto (in progress, don't consider it 'unfinished' because this is my current daily driver)

- 1990 'Cop-Caprice' Resto (this is my best friends car, he and I will be working on it together. He's paintingit this weekend. I spent last night sanding, and sanding, and sanding...)

- DIY Analog Multi-meter (was a DC-electronics class project. Worked pretty well 'till I ran too much current through it and burned it up)

- Assisted in Restos of:
- 1956 Willys Jeep
- 1975 K5 Blazer 4WD
- 1969 Chevelle SS
- 1973 Camaro Z-28
- 1969 Camaro
- 1967 Camaro
- 1969 Camaro Z-28 TPI/700R4 Conversion

cnorth5863
my first car was a ugly, smurf blue 1979 or 77 (cant remember) mustang hatchback...The breaks sort of worked...and hey only used 1 1/2 qt of oil every 3rd day. Besides that it was great. sold it 1year later for the same price i bought it.........$200.00. hehe

LOL! That's great!! No, I don't have it anymore, sold it years ago. (Was my first car too, but I sold it before I had the DL to drive it...) It was the fastback, 4 cylinder/4-speed. Saw a 302 conversion done on one once, always though that would have been cool, especially with the 4-speed!
