This topic will be dedicated to the MST controller. I will start off by putting a simple installation guide.

Here is a over view of the MST controller. Also this picture is show how the backlight connects to the ballast. Make sure Green Dot or Writing Faces up.

The next picture shows how the OSD (On Sreen Display) connects to the controller. The OSD cable connector is smaller than the connector on the board so there are one extra pin left. Make sure the connector is all the way over to the left.

The next picture shows how the LCD cable connects to the board. Make sure Whit Dot faces the front of the controller. If it is pluged in backwards it will fry the panel.

The next picture shows how the LCD cable plugs into the panel.

Hi, iv been reading the translated manual.
http://www.wavetel.us/~jonjandran/MTS9E19B_Board04232007.pdf

Iv noticed that the inverter connector, also has a 12v rail, Now what im thinking is, if a can supply a relay from this rail to power up my bulb control gear, id be able to switch the projector on/off via the remote.

Im looking for some clarification to ensure iv read the manual correctly, and is not the actual backlight control and is going to put a large starting voltage across my relay. (I don't think it is)

Kind Regards

Funny you ask...I've done this exact thing before with another panel. You can infact do what your asking. There is usually a power rail (such as the +12V that you noticed) and a logic signal to the inverter. I used the logic signal with a logic capable relay to switch on the lamp and a fan. I also added some delay in the fan drive though so that when you turn off the panel the fan stays on for some calculated length of time to cool down the inside of the box. Just make sure that you either use logic capable relays or comparators with pullup resistors to drive whatever relays you use. You don't want to put to much of a load on the board and blow something.

Thanks for that, Iv located the logic signal on the board and think i wil also go on that route. Will have to talk to my ole dad (hes the electronics expert in my family) about the relays to use but i have found this circuit http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/B...wden/r_ctrl.htm which makes sense to me.

I will be using a an PC fan/temperature monitor for my fan control, which i will strip to fit my control panal, hopefully il be able to find some way of making the alarm switch my bulb off.

kind regards

Does anyone with connections to the overseas supplier have any information on additional "service or control" menu's that might be useful?

For example gamma controls an actual tint control, red-blue-green,etc..

This is one of the best projects I've gotten into in a long time. smile.gif

I mean what more could a man ask for? Burning wood, breaking glass, sparks, sheet metal cuts, drill punctures it's got it all! laugh.gif Oh, and did I mention duct tape! tongue.gif
johnzo1995
There is not a hidden menu on the MST controller.
Philw
Darn

Thanks Johnzo

There is no speakers included with the controller. There is a way you could hook some speakers up to the controller as it does have an audio amp but I'm sure its not more than 5 watts and its pretty much useless in our application.

i see thanks. thats all i need to know.

There is a hidden menu in the MST controller.

Type in 2008 on the remote.

You can change RGB levels.

Be Careful.

Good find Johnzo smile.gif

Now if we could only find a hidden menu for scaling would be good to go tongue.gif

How does one get audio output from the tv tuner? I am hoping to get rid of my external tv tuner but I can't if I can't get sound to my AV receiver.

yea i asked this question aswell. philw answered it and take a look at his plog around post #71 look for a grey wire. its a 4 pin modex plug. (not sure if its the exact name for it) I also want to know how, and where to get this plug. philw made his own wire for it.

That looks like a molex connector connected to a 2pr phone wire. the phone wire could then be connected directly to your receiver if you have 5 way binding posts or converted into rca type plugs if you have to have them, or connected to binding posts on your projector's input panel. Radio shack has RCA plugs. They also have molex connectors in pullout drawers like you find hardware in at home centers. I'm not sure if they'd have the right one but that would be a good place to start. As for the wire I'm guessing he had the phone wire lying around but you could certainly use regular speaker wire and probably should if you need for longer runs(phone wire would be ok if just connecting to an on board panel).I really don't need audio out to bypass my TV box 9. But I'll need it If I want to try to pull in over the air HD. I'd like to try that little homemade antenna in the "mad science" section of this site. n1co35 I hope this helps you as much as you helped me. Thanks

Anyone have any ideas on what this is and what it adjust on the MST controller? post-418-1138467352.gif

Uhooo so far I like your answers, don't know if their right but I like-em. post-418-1138467278.gif

Now if your right, what's their best use?

Hmmm...

Do you guys know how hot the MST chip is supposed to get? Mine is getting quite hot to the touch (ie. almost burning), and I'm wondering if you guys heatsinked it or anything. I don't have any active cooling on the chip (just hanging in the room basically). So far no problems, but just want to make sure...

The projector is working very VERY nicely I must say... just don't want this good thing to only last a few times. :-D

I assume you guys have the PDF for this controller?
This board is manufactured by Shenzhen Kaixueng Video Technology Co., Ltd.
I have both the Chinese version from Dec 2006, and the English version from 2004.

Just didn't want to waste disk space for something you might already have.

EDIT: Never mind, I see jonjandran already has one translated and available online.

I know that someone has asked already about Audio Out on the controller board, PhilW seems to have the 10.6 kit, does anyone have the "15.4 Kit with MST HDMI and Samsung" from Manhattan LCD? Is this a good lcd and controller?
link - http://stores.miva.com/express/merchant.mv...de=manhattanlcd
If so could you tell me if it does infact have Audio Out, I plan to run to a amplified speaker system.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Great thread by the way, this will be awsome when done.

Cheers

Rats would be my prefered option for coach!

I have an MST controller, but due to unfortunate circumstances I do not have a "good" working panel to go with it anymore. What I'm wondering... What are the output specs of these controllers... It was purchased with the 1366x768 toshiba, is it locked in aspect ratio, or resolution?

Yes it's locked to the panels resolution/timings that it was programmed for.

You need to buy a compatible replacement that is essentially the exact same lcd.
