Hello there,

I'm working on a student project for my school where we are looking to have an image projected from the ground up on to a table which will be seen by viewers walking around it. The thought is that people walking around the table will be able to interact with the images presented to them.

Unfortunately for us most of the projectors we've been looking at won't suit our needs. We want something that will be able to project around a 40 inch image from about a 2-3 foot throw distance. Are we out of luck? Do any of you have any recommendations on what we should do?

None of us have had much experience with projectors or home video systems so we've walking around blindly trying to find a solution. I hope you guys can help!

Thanks,
-Peter

Hey Peter,

I think the best option for what you require, is a PJ in the form of a RPTV (Rear Projection Television). Have a look at this PLOG: http://www.lumenlab.com/forums/index.php?s...283&hl=RPTV

That's basically what you need, you'll just need to lay it on it's back. A higher wattage bulb/ballast may also be required, depending on the amount of light control you have in the location you will be placing it.

Thanks for the reply.

I forgot to mention an important part of the story... we need to have a couple cameras situated around the underside of the projected image to capture the movements of peoples hands (or styluses) on the upper side of the table.

For a while we were thinking of going with a rear projection television but then we ran in to problems with figuring out a way to position our 4 cameras so that they would be able to triangulate where people were touching down on the screen.

We figure a projector is the only option since we could then project the image up on to the screen while still having an open space for our own cameras to capture the positions of where people were touching the screen.

Sorry about not giving you the full story but thanks again for the reply!
