A friend gave me an LCD to use in a projector. When I powered it up it had numerous dead lines extending random lengths from the right edge almost (but not quite) to the left edge of the screen. Not exactly stuck pixels, more like stuck lines. I haven't tried Udpixel on it yet. Is there a chance this can be fixed, possibly related to dirty or gunked up FCC contacts? Or is it more likely bad driver circuitry? Any one else had any experience with something like this?

Most likely this indicates damage to the edge connectors on the LCD. Possibly damage to the FFCs that connect the controller. Some people have managed to repair this kind of damage, but most likely... No.

This LCD could be used for testing purposes, but I doubt that you'll want it to be a projector.

SurpaGuy's right. Either there is damage to the FFCs or (less likely) a poor connection at the FFCs. I have seen my fare share of bad LCD displays (not from this hobby, but at work and school) and there has only been one time where I have been able to fix the problem and that was by squeezing the bezel where the problem line was.

You'll most likely have to get another LCD. It's just a good excuse to invest in a 10.6. smile.gif
