Full Version: Problem With New Evo 1.1

hi,

i received my evo 1.1 today with much anticipation. I started up the unit to find that the screen contained a dead pixel, before I had even used the item. (i know the warranty states 6 dead pixels so maybe there's nothing i can do about that right now, am i right in thinking not many manufacturers do a zero-dead pixel policy?)

but moreover there is some kind of cabling in front of the screen, causing an obstruction to the picture (i have sent links to screenshots of these problems) i am wondering what can be done about this. I am reluctant to open up the projector if it voids my warranty. I am also reluctant to have to return the item immediately as i already incurred £75GBP import tax charges and $75USD shipping costs. Which i do not really want to have to repeat.

Whilst i understand this product represents great value for money, these problems comes as a bit of a disappointment for an unused item and i dont know what my next steps are?

* Can the screen be replaced at some point if more dead pixels are found? Where from? What cost?

* is it safe to open the unit and remove the obstruction from the screen.

Anyone else had similar problems?

Thanks for any help,
J

Dead Pixel (in the middle of the O.. the other black spots are dust that i should be able to remove):

Hi JMP,
Well, having a dead pixel is something bad and not easily fixed, but the cable thing shouldn't be.
PM LL and I'm sure they'd give you permission to open the Evo. Just move the cable out of the way.
For the dead pixel, maybe you can try one of those program thing people here talked about. I never done
it, so I don't know how it works. Look in the forum and I know you'll find something related to that.

Sheers.
