For the life of me I can't remember where I was looking at first surface mirrors to buy. It was about a month ago that I found this site, so it's not in any browsing history on my comp. They had pretty much any option you could ask for, even had a custom size box when you enter in your dimensions needed and it would calculate the cost with a single click. Prices were very reasonable too, it was only about $7 for the small sized mirror I may need. Has anyone else been to this site and feel like sharing?

I don't know what site you may have been on (and since I haven't bought a FSM for myself I also can't reccomend any where based on my own experiences). BUT a couple sites come to mind...

Edmund Optics probably has the best selection, but their prices are a bit on the high side I think...

Surplus Shed might have a mirror that will work for you. I don't think front surface mirrors have any special properties that prevent them from being cut. So you order a mirror that is too large, I'm sure you could then pay any glass shop a couple bucks to cut it down for you.

Also, this was a while ago, but I think arizonavideo had one for sale. Don't forget to check out the Trading Post section of LL.

There's also this guy on ebay, who has many different sizes at decent prices and will cut you a custom size.

Thanks guys! I wish I could remember that site, it was really cool. I'll give a shout to the ebay mirror guy if and when I need one, his prices do look quite affordable. smile.gif

Clarity glass sells them as well.

You can also find cheap FS mirrors from places that sell kalidoscope supplies. They can sell up to approx. 12" x 18" sheets I believe. There are two grades in that hobby, one you can clean/wipe and one you cannot. The cleanable version costs a little more. I found a small craft shop in my state, MN and the lady had a piece to sell. I was very satified with the quality. You can find the manufacturer on the web and find a distributor through them. That's what I did a couple years ago. I found commercial FS mirrors to be very expensive, I bought 2, 9"x10" pieces for like $20. Since then I've been building straight shooters. Much easier to focus evenly.

Edit: After looking, that's what the ebay guy has smile.gif
