Ok, so I am doing this other project and I have this lcd with a fried inverter, I realized it may just be a chip or something and I can replace it. I have a multimeter, but dont really know how to use it, can anyone help?
thanks

If it's just the inverter (which as far as I understand just powers the backlight) then you wont need it for building a projector.
It looks like you aren't building a projector, at least not now. If that's the case, offer it up for sale and see if anyone wants it...
Last thing, I wouldn't expect it to be even possible to be "walked through" fixing a chip on a monitor. If you very much want to make that monitor work, you're best off sending it to a repair facility.

What I'm saying is: no matter how "possible" it is, it's not going to be possible to walk someone who clearly has VERY little knowledge or experience through the process.
Pretty much, you'd need a skilled technition to not only diagnose the problem (without being able to touch the actual item mind you) but also teach you how to fix it. This technition presumably wouldn't get paid, it would take much longer than if he had been sent the broken device, and he'd also have to teach you well enough so that you can fix it FIRST TRY! If you find someone to try and you succeed, call MIT.
A can-do additude is required to make a projector, but some things are better left to the realm of reality.

no, im not asking someone to tell me how to do it
im pretty much asking how to use a multimeter and if that is really that hard, which I know it is not, then...

I haven't watched the whole video yet, but it looks like
THISlooks like it's going to be very thorough...
If you don't wanna wait for the whole to download, or if you just want a quick guide
THISlooks like it'll have the basic info...
HERE's another video...

a multimeter wont get you anywhere unless its the rectifier thats shot. you need scopes to diagnose a problem on these ccts and even then unless you know what waveforms are normal and which are bad.
