Full Version: Bad Fresnel?

Alright, so I've had my stuff for a while, but after reading the horror stories about trying to clean fresnels, I've left mine in the package they shipped in since I got them. I just took them out yesterday to put them in the frames I had built, only I noticed some small imperfections in my 220 mm lens. Near one corner, there are several areas that look almost as if they were broken in the cutting process.

I took a few pictures (man, it was hard getting my camera to autofocus on a lens... stupid digitals). Could yall take a look at them and let me know if it's something to be worried about? As in, will I be able to notice them in my projection as dark spots?

The affected areas are circled... all the other specks are sawdust (I know, I know... I just got impatient after I got the frames built - the canned air is coming out as soon as I'm done with the post).

I know that it will make SOME difference in image quality, but I don't know how noticable it will be. Should I worry about getting a replacement?

My LL fresnels came with a few scuffs. You can see them in bright seens if you really look hard for them.

I think you're lucky that it's on the 220mm fresnel. I bet it'll be very hard to see such small defects once they go through the LCD and other fresnel...
